Charles William "Bill" Word Jr., 63, of North Little Rock passed away Friday, September 18, 2015. He was born December 30, 1951 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Charles Word Sr. and Mildred Word. He was an avid duck hunter and a member of the Big Six Duck Club, a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at Arkansas State University, and loved his Razorbacks. Bill was a member of Oasis Church, were he played harmonica and sang during worship service. He was owner/operator of Pete's Shoe Shop in Levy for 31 years.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Thacker Word; children, Chuck Word (Karmen) of Benton and Carrie Cook of North Little Rock; five grandchildren, Ava and Charleigh Word, Angel and Caleb Cook and Noah DeGarmo; brother, George Word; sister, Pat Short (Fred), of North Little Rock; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family that will miss him.

Memorials may be made to Oasis Church, 7318 Windsong Drive, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72113. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday at Oasis Church. Burial will be in Rest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home.

Very sad loss. I loved Bill and Brenda. Hard to say his name without hers. What an all around great guy. I'm so glad they came to reunion. I loved talking with him.

Sadness for those of us you left behind, but a joyous day for you.

Bill and I shared many classes over the years.  He was a funny upbeat guy.  May he RIP.
