Children I have raised two sons as a single mom. My oldest, Cameron was born January 5, 1985 - two months early More…and with bi-lateral club feet. He is married to Lauren and has a stepson named Jameson who he has raised as his own. He was medically retired (rated at 100% disabled by the Army and Social Security) from the U.S. Army as a sergeant where he served with the 3-29 field artillery attached to the 4th Infantry Division at Camp Anaconda, Iraq. He ran over four IEDs, saw a lot of things that he'll only talk about with other combat vets. He holds an Associate's Degree in graphic design from Penn Valley Community College, a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and a Sound Engineering Certificate from the Los Angeles School of Art & Design. He is very active in the Masons (Master Mason, York Rite, 32nd degree Scottish Rite, and Knights Templar) and has been worshipful master several times and held other leadership positions. He is very bright and spends much of his time learning everything from ancient history to politics, to you name it.

My younger son, Taylor was born December 2, 1991. Like his brother, he is very bright. Like me and his father, he is very stubborn. He has been a late bloomer and returned to college majoring in business in the Fall of 2023. As a child and adolescent he exceled in sports of every kind, but his great passion has been baseball. He has umpired youth baseball since he was 14 and is certified to umpire both high school and college levels. Umpiring works well with his school schedule and other obligations and pays fairly well because of the level he officiates. He lives with his girlfriend Nicole and is working to grow and become a the kind of man my father and his other two grandfathers are/were. He has struggled a lot and was in a toxic relationship for 14 years, but is doing great now. I have every confidence he will succeed in whatever he chooses to do and he'll probably be the one taking care of me when I'm drooling on myself.

My father worked for Hudson's department store and when they were bought out by Dayton's department store in the Twin Cities, Dad got transferred. I was 15 and in the middle of my sophomore year at Bentley. I hated Minnesota the first few years we lived there. The people were a lot different than those I'd grown up with - a lot more white collar and wealth. The school had no school spirit - not even a student council. I sang in their concert choir - but every single day I wished it was Bentley's concert choir I was singing with. But I made it through and took a year off of school before going to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire to study radio/tv journalism. I changed my major to advertising and transferred to the University of Minnesota just in time for my father to get transferred again to Kansas City. So I got my bachelor's at Minnesota and headed south to be closer to my family.
I've been here in this too hot, too cold, landlocked, slightly southern, fairly redneck city since 1979. I've raised my sons here and I guess it's as much home as any place. I have many hobbies, some I need to get back to doing. I have sung in several church choirs and worked at the Kansas City Renaissance Festival for over 20 years, first as a performer manager, then as part of a stage act called MentalPause, Hot Flash Wenches, and finally as a volunteer at the front gate greeting and entertaining patrons. I retired from that when my health issues became a barrier to standing for long periods of time and being in the heat. But I made some good friends and had a great time.
I lost my father a week shy of his 91st birthday in 2022, but my mother is still alive and kicking, taking care of my stepfather and a home. She'll be 92 in July and is still my biggest hero and the person I love the most. I'm very blessed.
I am currently working on my membership in Daughters of the American Revolution, cheered on by my cousin who has been a member for years, although we do not share the same patriot. It is a lot of fun to research my family genealogy and to make new friends.
I keep promising myself that I'm going to do a massive purge of all of the junk I've accumulated over a lifetime, but my motivation seems to be lacking. LOL
So that's about it for me, a whole lifetime has gone by in a flash. I don't know how I got this old so quickly. I'm grateful for all the experiences I've had and a loving family and friends.

School Story

I have a most humiliating school story from Bentley. I can't remember who convinced me to host an "illegal" homecoming float-making party at my parent's house - but somehow the seniors got wind of it, and my mom, not knowing it was supposed to be hush-hush let about five seniors in who told her they were from the school newspaper and wanted to interview us and take pictures. I was very naive in those days - so in they came. The next morning my name was mentioned (several times) on the morning announcements and our party was BUSTED! I was mortified and thought I'd never be able to show my face there again. Little did I know, we wouldn't be there much longer. We beat the class of '73 with our slot machine! And the last football game of the season, Tom Luptowski and I had a contest to see who could yell the loudest at the game. I don't know who won, but my family was full of glee the next day when I couldn't say a word for having lost my voice.

Am totally jazzed and thrilled to be coming "home" and attending the class of 1974 50-year reunion. I didn't graduate from Bentley because we moved to Minnesota, but I am a Livonia girl and a Bulldog at heart. Can't wait to see old friends and visit with family.
