N.B. In July (2023) my grandson, Miller (6th grader), competed in the 5th International Olympiad in Rome. He won WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS in the History Bee (individual) and History Bowl (team). He competed against 258 students from 21 countries and was the only one in any of the four age groups to win two championships. Pls. allow me to brag.

Meredith, born 1984, homemaker, married, one daughter (Olivia)

Adopted daughter, Annette ("Shiku"), born 1999; biomedical engineer; she is still a runner - - typical for a Kenyan!! Now working as a biomedical engineer, she also is a fashion model.

My entire career has focused on research and development, mostly in refining, petrochemicals, and catalysts. Very interesting work.

My fun activities are travel, gardening, and reading world history & geography. My country list is 58.

In February 2012 I joined Reliance Industries Ltd ( the largest non-gov't company in India - comparable size and business to Dow Chemical). I am now retired and now live in suburban Philadelphia (NJ side).

I still travel for fun. We are building a new house in suburban Nairobi (elevation 5900 ft on the equator, T from 50 to 80F!)
School Story:

My favorite class was American History with Mr. Ross. He made history SO interesting: cause and effect... three causes of the Civil War (three S's): secession, slavery, states rights, alliteration for virtually every major event! He also told titillating/juicy stories that bordered on being a BIT off-color.

History followed me into college. Even though I was an engineering student, I took an advanced level Am. History class first semester freshman year. ALL of the other students were history majors, most were grad student or upper classmen. The professor asked me if I was in the right class. Very embarrassing!

It's sad to hear of Doug's passing. He lived on the other block of Spalding Street, and we often walked to school together. He was an easygoing guy, and he'll be missed.Over the years we kept in touch on FB. Our last contact was just a few days ago. Doug had been in declining health for several years. Rest in peace, my old buddy.
