I was very sad when I received this news yesterday.  Edward Byrd was a great guy, and although I had not kept in close touch with him in recent years, I have many fond memories from earlier times.

RIP, Ed!

Ed had the best smile - a mile wide - and the best laugh of anyone I've known. He knew the importance of having joy in your life and knew how to share it with others. We are fortunate to have had Ed brighten our lives.

The comments so far are very good. Ed was such a great guy in many people's lives. We were all richer for knowing him. My late father (a big time racist) even said great things about the Byrd family.

I enjoyed chatting with him at our last reunion together. That was the 40th.

Quie frankly, we must all get to the next reunion before we lose more fine people.

My condolences to your family.
You were such a great person.
We were in the same classroom in elementary.
Rest in Peace Ed.
