From her sister, Diane Davis Haden : Kay graduated from Queens College in 1967 and moved to the D.C. area. She met and married Larry Thomson in August of 1969. They moved to Culpepper, VA and Kay taught high school English. She and Larry had 3 sons. She was an avid bridge player and was the "go to" friend for her circle. When she was 40, she contracted breast cancer and died 6 years later.
Kay was a good friend! Always laughing and ready to cut up. We commiserated about boyfriends, fashion and hair. I'll always remember her as a girl with a great sense of humor!
One growing-up memory I have: Kay and I got caught smoking by my mother when we were spending the day at Audubon Country Club. ( she picked us up too early).
I intended to visit her and her family , but didn't get the opportunity to go to Washington until it was too late...a big regret for me.
She was always such a positive person. I hope her family is doing well.
"Kay Day" was one of my best friends all the way through high school, and we stayed in touch all the way throughcollege. I even visited her in D.C. in 1967 and attended the Preakness with a bunch of her friends.
I remember the summer days we spent at Plantation Swim Club "frying" ourselves slathered with baby oil and iodine. I'm surprised we don't all have melanoma.
