Lumberton High School Class of 2012 President's Speech

LHS Class of 2012 Reunion

Welcome Address

Hello fellow classmates! My name is Gwyneth Vargas, and I served as the senior class president for the Class of 2012. It is my honor to welcome all of you to the Lumberton Senior High School Class of 2012 alumni reunion website,

We come here together again to remember those wonderful times we spent at Lumberton High School when we formed many of the values, we now hold dear, and some of our most intimate and lasting friendships of our lives. Our fellow alumni are people we learned early life lessons from and with. We learned lessons about failure and achievements, about friendship, and discovering who we are – and together we all matured both physically and mentally.

When you think back to our senior year, there are many proud and memorable moments that each of us can think of. Some of those proud moments includes receiving an A grade in a class, getting recognition on the honor role, joining a sports team or school club, or even getting accepting into college. Some of the most memorable moments of our senior year happened during homecoming week, prom night, the senior trip to Orlando, FL, and of course graduation day. These proud moments are some of many that we cherish and will remember forever.

The four years we spent at Lumberton High School came at a critical time in our personal growth and self-discovery. For some, high school appeared to be easy.  For others it was a time when we became acutely aware of how different we really are.  For all of us, we entered in the world with many hopes, dreams, and ambitions unaware of where our lives would take us - and what a journey life has been thus far.

Since 2012, we have all gone our separate ways to start our lives. Some of us moved away to different cities and states. Some of us went on to college or joined the military. Some of us got married and started our own families. We went on to work in a variety of professions and occupations, and over the last 10 years we have succeeded in many things, and maybe even failed in a few; however, the one thing we all have in common is that we received our foundation from the same place— Lumberton High School. High School was our training ground but graduating was our rite of passage.

It is hard to believe that it has been 10 years since we graduated. As we celebrate this momentous occasion with our classmates and friends, let’s make this reunion one to remember. I would like to thank each committee member for all their hard work and dedication to make this class reunion possible. On behalf of the entire committee and myself, thank you all for joining us and being apart of the best senior class to ever do it. Welcome to the Lumberton High School Class of 2012 Reunion.

Thank You

- Gwyneth Vargas
