Loved Wally’s poem.  There was indeed a buzz.  In the room to be sure but also in my psyche as I heard the voices of old friends .  You matter to me and I regret I didn’t keep in contact.  There was buzz too as we  talked about  the great teachers we had:  Stieger, Langberg, Jaeger , Breakwell,  Miss Smith.  It’s clear to me we had a superior experience together at LHS.  It helped shape what I have become.  I hope we do reunite in five years.  Let’s keep in touch.   If everyone can find a classmate or two that’s not on the website, that would be super!

I agree...I think we had a superior education and a superior infastructure in that town and our families. I cringe everytime I hear someone I work with (even the surgeons) saying things like "I would have went".

It was wonderful to see everyone and to laugh with abandon for a few hours!

Thank you to Jerry and Wally for a job well done. It was wonderful seeing everyone and sharing about our lives and families. Expecting to keep in touch with newly found old friends. Would love to do it again in five years. Be glad to help.

To Jerry and Wally; It takes people such as yourselves to help others feel good about themselves. Thanks for your patience, time and most of all caring enough to put together this wonderful event. Looking through the pictures and from the stories that I heard I feel that I still know everyone. Perhaps I will be able to attend the next gathering.

enjoy,

Don Sharkey

Dear Jerry and Wally,

I wish to add my thanks and appreciation for all of your work in bringing '63 together for the 50th.  It was great to see so many classmates and to hear some of their stories of the past 50 years.  I wish that there had been more time for me to catch up with more of our '63s, but maybe the 55th will provide that opportunity.

Warm wishes,

Bob

Hi, Gerry Giammarino!  Delighted that the rumors were greatly exaggerated.

You will be the star of the next reunion, if you go.

All the best,

Barbara

Thanks again to Jerry and Wally for doing a great job!

The Reunion was a trip back to the past and I was amazed how easy it was to instantly identify all the women and most of the men!

It was a thrill to see Mr. Steiger-fantastic idea to invite him-

Thanks Barbara Ann for taking so many pics!

Many thanks to Jerry and Wally for organizing such a successful reunion. All of us seemed to be having a good time. It was wonderful seeing everyone after so many years. Lots of memories and lots of fun. That's the good news.

The bad news is that, after careful consideration, I am withdrawing my name from consideration tp organize our next reunion in 2018. Hopefully, someone else will come forward to plan  the event. Again, great and successful reunion.

I propose the next class reunion 13 years from now.  Let it be the 63rd reunion year for the class of 63.  That will make us about 81 years old and by that time, Florida will probably have the largest majority of classmates.  There for, I'm proposing a backyard pool party at my house in West Palm Beach.  If you remember, I had the best backyard party when we graduated the 8th grade, so I would like to continue the tradition.  The house is single level, wheel chair accessable and the pool is inground.  The pool looks good; it's too bad we don't look good in bathing suits anymore, but bring your  bathing suit anyway.  Stay tuned for details, 13 years goes by in the blink of an eye these days.

Seriously, you are a trip! It is true tho...we will be boarded first cause we will be in wheel chairs. Actually Jackie will probaby be pushing mine at 90MPH.  The pool better be handicap accessible...possibly with a chair lift. there should also be some kind of medication dispenser pool side, correctly labled with each name so we don't have to strain getting in and out of the pool.  I'm liking the whole idea........

We should probably have a cardiologist and nurse on hand for any emergencies.  Maybe one of each considering that there may be 15 people at the renunion.  We will probably need a couple of float in porta potties and even a defribillator.  Any thoughts?

06/12/13 09:36 PM #28

Susan Giordano (Hennings-Lowe)

EXCELLENT idea! I will be the nurse but you will all pretty much have to do your own CPR. Take a class.broken heart

We may not even remember why we're at Billy's.  Remembering CPR will be a stretch.

Got your message and invitation.  Will be there.  Give us a date.  Just 6 hours down the road from our home in St. Augustine.

By the way, as I said in my last e mail to you - you never invited me to your 8th grade pool party.

We were the kids on the other side of the block.  Leather jackets.  Some would have called us miscreteants.  Actually we were.  But Sports saved most of us.  Me for sure.  I owe John Cannella much of what I became.  Work ethic.  Dedication to a task.  A scholorship.  A chance to demonstrate what I could do.  If not for his correspondence to my coach at Rutgers, I would haved wound up taking courses at Nassua Community College.

Instead Susan and I enjoyed great jobs in New York,  Sao Paulo, Sydney and Bangok.  And enjoyed the truly American Dream.  Go figure.

Just a recollection.

Richie

RICH...may I remind you that there were a lot of us from the" other side of the tracks".....I wasn't invited to the party either!  And, FYI, it has become rather difficult these days to get into Nassau .Because tuitions are out of control, graduates start off at Nassau Com College, ace the place and transfer. In the mean time they have saved $$ and worked at the same time. Pretty ingenious, no? Hope I see you at Howletts party since we didn't get to see you in May.

All the comments about Billy's pool party in 13 years are hilarious.  Yup-Jackie would be pushing any wheelchair people at 90 MPH.  So funny.  Jackie has the same pep and vivaciousness she always had.   81!  We'll never be 81 will we?

Very stylish response.

Be well.

The demise of Richard Kampe comes as a complete shock to me.  My condolences to Susan and wish her family peace during this period of morning.    I shared many wonderful times during our high school years with Richard from football practice at Marion Street School to the  lacrosse field at Atlanic Avenue.  Richard was always smiling with an outgoing charming personality.  I travelled to Rutgers to watch my old team mate take on the country in lacrosse.  Richard and I travelled to Puerto Rico together and had a fabulous time in Old San Juan.  Good bye Richard, it was an honor knowing you...

I am very sorry to hear of the death of Spencer Lieb.  I knew him fairly well in high school, noting his intelligence, enthusiasms, and wry sense of humor.  We lost contact for over 50 years, but, through Wally Parsons, reestablished a connection by telephone and e-mails 2-3 years ago.  Spencer very kindly sent me a number of his recorded songs and let me understand his medical struggles.  I will miss him.

Rest in Peace, Spencer.
