I attended Converse College for two years and then transferred to UGA where I graduated. I taught first grade for a short while and then went to work for Southern Bell in Atlanta doing public relations work in the schools. I worked for them for 5 and 1/2 years until Catherine was born.
I had three children in five years which kept me quite busy. From the time they started school,
I did constant volunteer work all the way through
until Carol graduated in 1999. I held every job from president of the PTA on down. I met my husband in Atlanta. He was getting his MBA at GA
State after returning home from his tour in Vietnem. He graduated for Duke University before going to Vietnam. He grew up in Pinehurst, NC. Joe is in real estate and after working for several people has been self employed since 1985.
This has been a year of mixed blessings for us. We have just found out that Carol is pregnant so we will be going from 2 to 5 grandchildren in 9 months. That is the greatest blessing! On the ohter had I was diagnosed with breast cancer and
had to have a double masectomy the end of April.
It was caught early but I am going to through
chemotherapy at this time. I will have the second of four treatments tomorrow (7/8). I am most grateful that it was caught early and that the prognosis is good but this was quite a shock as I have no cancer anywhere in my family. Joe, my husband has been a saint through all this. He has been my rock. Our daughters have also been so wonderful. I could not have made it this far without all of them.
