Rick Slusher

Virginia and I celebrated 32 years of marriage on April 22, 2010. She is a Stonewall graduate ('74), but we did not meet until I returned to Manassas after graduating from the University of Virginia. Both of our children are graduates of Radford University, and they live with their spouses in the Northern Va area. Our son, Greg, married his bride Lauren in October 2008, and our daughter, Alyssa, married her sweetheart Kevin in May 2009. I marked my 35th year with the VEC this past October (how sad it that?). Can retirement be that far away?
9/15/12 UPDATE: We welcomed our first grandchild into the world this week! On September 12, 2012, our daughter and son-in-law presented us with a grandson, Ethan Charles Fenstermacher. He weighed in at 7 lbs 8 oz, and is 21 inches long.
2/24/13 UPDATE: We welcomed our second grandchild and first granddaughter on February 20, 2013. Our son and daughter-in-law presented us with Ella Rose Slusher, who weighed in at 7 lbs 7 oz. She is 21 inches long.
6/30/14 UPDATE: Our third grandchild and second grandson was born to our daughter and son-in-law on June 15, 2014, which was Father's Day! Kolton Charles Fenstermacher weighed in at 8 lbs 9 oz, and he was 21 inches long.
6/12/16 UPDATE: Our fourth grandchild and third grandson was born to our son and daughter-in-law on April 15, 2016. Jacob Tobin Slusher weighed 8lbs, 7 oz. He was 21 inches long.
6/22/18 UPDATE: I retired on March 1 after 43 years with VEC.....and so far, no tears have been shed. I am now turning my attention to the best job I have ever had -- grandfather to Ethan, Ella, Kolton, and Jacob. Virginia and I are loving this grandparent gig; I will unashamedly share pictures with you the next time that I see you!
7/30/20 UPDATE: Our fifth grandchild and fourth grandson was born to our son and daughter-in-law on July 20, 2020. Charlie Henry Slusher weighed in at 8lbs, 5oz, and he was 21 inches long.

Baseball seasons trying to be "in the right frame of mind"........trips to away games in the "Flyin' Coffin".......cruising McDonalds or Pizza Hut (what else did we have?)......Key Club convention and the "Osbourn 12"......European History and Miss "O"......good friends and fond memories....hoping to reconnect with many in October!
