Donna, I'm a good shot.

And Lianos is that a pre-menopausal jab? Cause we'll kill you dead!

Cathy, the truth is....if I could get anyone of the opposite sex to talk to me for 3 seconds I had a crush on them until the rejection phase of the conversation. Which was about 4 seconds into the conversation. Melissa, I didn't think I would have to tell you that I had a crush on you? I don't know anyone that didn't have you on the top ten list. You were on mine! Too bad I was such a chicken-%#$@ back then! I would have wore a prom gown to match your tux..

Karen, thanks for the Jen update. I'm sure she would laugh about it. How's my man Steve doin'? That's so great. Still drawing? I rarely get the opportunity. I'm leaving for York Beach for the week and will finish my painting of Cape Neddick that I started two years ago (Weather permitting). I considered you, Collette and Gary Smith the most talented artists of our time. I just drew scary vikings chopping up dragons threatening skimpy clad women on Star Trek.

Colette Hebert (Lucas)

Oh Scott, I loved those Star Trek drawings. I remember you giving me some of them in Jr. High School. Your notebooks were full of them. I have remained a sci-fi fan. I remember seeing Star Wars with Rob and deciding on-the-spot my first born boy would be named Luke. 'Luke Lucas' got vetoed by the family in favor of Drew. Probably for the best.

Karen was/is a master at all drawing, but particularly drawing from her head, a skill I greatly admire. I had a perfectly proportioned equine drawing she gave me in the 6th grade that I may still have. (That's how good it was!)

I have been hoping Gary Smith would log in because I am curious if he still does artwork. I remember the HUGE Crusaders text he lettered by hand at the entrance of the school. A Gary Smith showed work work at The Sharon Art Center last year and I wondered if it was him.

Other class artists whose company I enjoyed: Mary Schunemann (check out her website and award winning artwork) and Craig Riley. Craig and I practically lived in the art room senior year. Good memories.

Hey Scotty,
When are we going to have that beer?

08/07/09 08:51 AM #348

Robert Ferendo

Hey Colette...speaking of art that has stood the test of time! I have a beautiful watercolor of a tropical beach and palm trees you did for me. It is featured in my main bathroom and the entire room was built around it! Will look for a photo to post...And as for Mary S. I just looked at some albums she posted on facebook...absolutely incredible!

Collette,
You're right! Karen is extremely talented. ...although, she has recently taken up "pencil stalking".

I had forgotten about Gary Smith's exraordinary artistic ability. He also had an incredible memory and could recall the ending intersections of every street in Manchester! Amazing.

Karen Dobrowski (Hernandez)

You all are giving me a lot more credit than I deserve; I put everything aside for ages and am just now starting again. I sold out, ladies and gentlemen, to make the almighty buck in graphic design and raise my boys. But, hopefully, with the help of my sleeping model, I'll get back in the swing of things!

08/07/09 09:29 AM #351

Robert Ferendo

Steve...and Gary combined his talents and used to draw detailed maps of the entire city from memory...(if MY memory serves me...)

08/07/09 09:32 AM #352

Robert Ferendo

Karen,,,I guess you've found your Muse! even if he does have to sleep on the job to inspire!

08/07/09 09:37 AM #353

Karen Dobrowski (Hernandez)

I think he would have a hard time sitting still, Rob. It's so hard to find the time to draw/paint when you have kids; Dunc turns into such a pest when I sit down to work! He's curious cuz he's never seen me do it before - a million questions. Kind of takes away the inspiration. It'll be easier when the kids go back to school - soon!!!! Then I just have to fight housework-guilt!

Glenn Lianos

"And Lianos is that a pre-menopausal jab? Cause we'll kill you dead!" Yes, it was. hmmm I have 2 ways to look at that threat... I could use it to save Tim's life because then you'll be done w/ "one murder"( and who deserves a phone a friend more than Tim?)...or you'll have to move tables. Oh and in that case I will definately not be able to make it to the reunion.

08/07/09 09:54 AM #355

Glenn Lianos

Karen...I have to chime in too. I seemed to remember a "hooded" falcon or hawk in pointlism B&W ink(sp?) that I was always amazed by.

Scott...I have to a agree with you. Melis, we were teenage boys...I had crushes weekly. I could fill the page with how many...get your guns/hats/pipe/monocle ready...

08/07/09 10:03 AM #356

Karen Dobrowski (Hernandez)

Wow, you guys have amazing memories. Guess I'd better get it in gear and start producing again! If Steve wasn't inspiring enough, you all are lighting a fire under me!

08/07/09 10:06 AM #357

Robert Ferendo

Oh yeah..the pointlism drawings! and Glenn..forget that you wouldnt be able to make it to the reunion...more tragically..you would never recreate you Chippendale dance number!!!!

Donna Keenan (Grady)

Pre-menopausal? Oh honey my eggs are fried! LOL

08/07/09 10:23 AM #359

Melissa Turner

Professor Plum, I'll bring my lead pipe and meet you in the library.

08/07/09 10:26 AM #360

Steve Hernandez

Geez Karen, can I come down from my pedestal now. The footing is a bit shaky up here.

Donna, I hope your fried eggs are "over easy".

Rob, You're right about Gary and the maps. ..another tidbit that has escaped my aging brain.

We have lots of talent in the class of 1979. We're far more interesting than our children realize. It would be lovely if we had a forum to display this.

Is it possible to tweak this site and have a "gallery" of talent? We wouldn't have to limit ourselves to canvas art. I'm certain we have musicians and word smiths, not to mention talents like nursing, dentistry, etc. In this economy, it would be nice to support one another.

08/07/09 10:30 AM #362

Steve Hernandez

Melissa..... Facebook my dear. And no, I don't have time to set it up. I'm too busy balancing atop my pedestal.

08/07/09 10:34 AM #363

Karen Dobrowski (Hernandez)

You deserve that pedestal, honey! You are amazing. Don't fight it - enjoy it.

Do we have any further details on the specifics of reunion weekend? On what days certain activites are offered, and what those specific activities would be? I was specifically interested in dates and times of the whale watch, hiking (know the time), apple picking and happy hour...Thanks so much!

08/07/09 11:12 AM #365

Melissa Turner

Steve, I'm too lazy to set it up. Besides, I don't want to focus on yet another networking site. I keep this site up and toggle to it when I need a laugh from a paper I'm working on. If I have to toggle twice, I'll get lost. We'll just have to network in person. I've heard about people actually meeting in person and having conversations with actual talking. Can you imagine?

During our reunion, I fear that I will "air" keyboard out of habit.

08/07/09 11:22 AM #366

Donna Keenan (Grady)

Kathy,
I feel the same way..no details. Music, food etc..what do they have planned for the night? It seems the only people who don't post are those that are planning this. We want details!
