I don’t speak for the committee, but I believe their objective is met with the above. As for the rest, I read somewhere the committee hoped/planned others would organize additional events of interest.
A bunch of us are heading to Laura Kohut’s restaurant. If more are interested, we’d very much like to form a posse and go together. Laura and Casey have agreed to accommodate us with music and food.
There is a page on this site to post announcements. That would be a great place to invite/ organize additional events.
Melissa, We are strictly talking about the night of the reunion. Some people have dietary needs that they need to know what is being served. It is in no way a slap to anyone putting this reunion on. I have tried with little success to organize a Friday night football game and tour of MMHS. Anyone who takes this personally - it is not intended.
Donna, lol, I know for a fact that you are too nice to give anyone a smack down (unless, of course, they deserve it.) I’m not chastising anyone, I promise. But I also know that large-scale events are monsters. Everyone weighs in after-the-fact. Organization by committee is suffering I wish on no man. However, I do wish the “post announcements” did not have to be approved by the committee. It makes organizing any event other than the “Big Dinner” almost impossible. On the football night—We’re in! It sounds fun and silly (my personal favorites.) I’m interested in a spin class at a local gym. Anyone know of one? Anyone else interested? I’m also willing to apple pick and hike. But if these things are going to get off the ground, someone is going to have to organize them. I’m willing but I need to know if we have any takers before I invest the time.
Melissa, I am flying home that week. I am going to spend time with my folks in the mountains, before coming down, but I do want to do the apple picking, hiking etc..however, I am SADLY out of shape...I gained 80 pounds in Texas..so disappointing as I thought everyone in the South was thin....NOT!!!!!!!!!! At any rate, my plane leaves Sunday morning, so Sunday is out for me, I would gladly do anything on Fri/Sat - but understanding that if it's physical, I'll be the last one most probably - just want folks to know what they are in for - but I want this to be an experience - so from Friday to Saturday, I will follow just about anyone anywhere. Melissa, What night are you going to Laura's? The game is Friday night at West (yes all the high schools actually have their own fields now- only Gill for Central). I thought you were going on Friday.
Kathy, I am probably taking the entire week off (starting 10/5). That will be one year since my last vacation and I so need one!
Donna, Laura is open and willing to give us any night we want. Wahoo!!! Friday night sounds great. You, Kat, Tim and I will go if no one else. Tim can be our date. (he's good that way) Unless either of you brings a date. I will warn you, I like to fix people up. It is an illness of mine with no known cure. You've been warned.
Kat, my daughter is at Goodfellows AFB right now doing the secret squirrel stuff of her crypto/linguistics MOS. Is that where you were stationed? You and I can lollygag our way through any physical event. I will blame you and you can blame me. Deal?
BTW- I sent Denise Hebert a message asking that the committee post a tentative menu for the dinner.
Kat, I should mention that you can burn almost 1,000 calories in a hour during a spin class. You'll leave the class looking like a bath mat but it kicks ass.
I will be in NYC week before and will probably spend Friday nite there, driving to NH on Sat morning..would be up for a (late) brunch on Sunday after the previous nite's events..if anyone is up for it!
i would love to go to laura's place.....provided i can beg a ride from someone....i'll probably be at the end of my recovery by that time....no ohhhss or awwwssss...im having surgery the end of aug to most likely remove a kidney....but i dont plan on missing this reunion....smile
Melissa, I give smack downs at work almost everynight (verbal only). LOL...Hey I was wondering..does anyone remember Donna Jackson? Didn't she graduate with us? I was hoping she would respond because she did a chew and screw on me when I worked at Friendly's in high school! LOL
Chew and screw is when you eat at a restaurant and then leave without paying. Sorry my PD language kicked in. I want her bill payed damn it!
BTW..are you saying you want to go to the game or Laura's on Friday night? Trying to figure this whole thing out. I don't think I will be going to Laura's restaurant..I googled it and it is 2 1/2 hours each way. I know..I am a poop.
Hilarious! I'm going to the game with you and Kat (if you will have me) We'll go to Laura's another night. My sweet Baboo wants to nosh at a cool place. I want to see the Apollo Grill...two birds/one stone
Steve, sorry about the beers. I thought I said last night? I was there. Maybe I forgot to tell you? Ok How about Billy's Saturday or a Friday night for a burger and a beer? My wife loves the sox so we hit that place often. She doesn't drink but she allows me a little discretion. Maybe Karen would like to come? I dunno but a beer sounds good.
As far as the activities go, if anyone needs any help with that stuff, then I will assist in anyway I can. The home page lists some activities and I'm willing to set up what I can. As far as brunch goes Melissa, I'm more a breakfast guy (Red Arrow; top ten diner in the USA) but the Airport has attracted more restaurants to the area. The Hilton Garden next to the Merchants Stadium probably has a brunch. I will investigate and get back to you. Richard Fisk is having a wine tasting and dinner at his home Friday night.
If we want the tour, we need to have the burger and beer after the game. Mr. A already told me he is going to the game, so the tour would be 5ish. As far as brunch, the only thing I can think of is The Yard, but I will ask around.
