Pam Taber

You guys are way too funny!! It is killing me that I may not make it to any of the reunion festivities in light of my little Maura being in the PICU. I know that sounds aweful but I was so looking forward to it and seeing all of you again. She is my priority though and I will be remaining in Boston as long as she is here.

She is having a tough time weaning off of her cardiac medications for blood pressure support but her echocardiogram was good! She is breathing on her own but still intubated and on a ventilator for pressure support to her lungs due to a collapsed right upper lobe in her lungs. She is a feisty girl like her Mom and with time we believe she will pull through this. She also has pseudomonas in her sputum and requiring some potent anitibiotics to treat that aggresively! Appreciate all of your prayers and well wishes for her.

I agree that Joe is very brave posting a party at his house after the reunion. That could prove to be very interesting and could result in less people showing up for brunch on Sun. due to hangovers. At our age those aren't so easy to recover from as they used to be!!! LOL

Go class of 1979!!

Pam,

My thoughts and prayers are with you. We will be thinking of you. Give Maura a big kiss and hug from the Class of 1979. All of our prayers are with you and your family. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you.

Love, Anne

Oh My Dog, Pam. You and your girls like to keep things interesting. Of course you need to be where your baby is but she's obviously a fighter. Who knows what ten days will bring? Love to all three Taber girls!

For Glenn and other poutine neophytes:

This article is a few years old but informative, nonetheless. Enjoy!

Man, the conversations get convoluted on this thing! Kind of like watching three tennis games at once!

I remember one interesting graduation party at Rob's...

Pam: How are YOU holding up? Don't forget to take good care of yourself, too... Maura needs her Mom more than ever now! Glad to hear she's making some headway and here's hoping she recovers quickly!! She sure does sound like a fighter, like Mom!

Very interesting Ev...now I feel educated! See in the end we all have common ground...Fries. We do the same thing with feta cheese but no gravy. We don't have a fancy name...we call them Feta Fries..who knew?

I agree, Joni! Never appealed to me either!

The nastiest thing abt poutine is that the cheese sqeeks on your teeth when you chew it. Think fingernails on a chalkboard in your mouth...it is NASTY.

Donna Keenan (Grady)

Totally gross..think I will be sleeping in the next day.

I love Poutin. But I see why people think it's gross. My thing is Crepe's. Go for that.

Laura Kohut (Douglass)

In the old days I would say I'll party all night then go directly to brunch but those days are long gone! Melissa and I were talking about the fact that there is a pre-party, a party, and a post-party! We never had it this good back in '79 (though we sure tried).

Pam, you will be there in spirit if not in person. We will all raise our glasses to you and shout "my glaaassss" in your honor, okay? I send you hugs and strength.

I will remember my passport for the West side but will not partake in any cheese and gravy drenched teeth-itching fry concoction, thank you very much. Now vinegar fries.....that I could go for.

Glenn, I must say you, of all people, pose the greatest danger to me as you hold a treasure trove of memories that should best be left unspoken. Remember playing colonel Puff Puff while drinking wine (whose apt. was that) and you rescued me from "the kitty place" and ever so gently dragged me down the stairs by my feet...bump bump bump....My hurts thinking about it. Oh, yeah, I could be in trouble if I don't stay on your good side!

Melissa, I think every story we share is equally embarrasing for both of us so I feel safer. Of course, I don't remember everything....

Kevin- I'm with you. What did I do graduation week? Don't really remember too much but it must have been fun.

Donna - I'll try to get the time to scan those photos from the Hawaii trip. I've been working 14 hour days right now with the hospital on overload (plus school). Really looking forward to the time off!

Laura! You have us all intrigued now!

Man, this reunion will need to last more than 6 hours!

Laura, Thank Dog for not remembering everything.

Ev, Was this what Glenn meant when he posted "Still waters run deep"? It seems more like still waters runs a still. Remember to tip your cabbies everyone!

Gee, I'm going to have to read a few old posts to figure out how poutine made its way into the conversation. Is that on the reunion menu? A much better French Canadian meal is Tourtiere (pork pie, sounds better in French) followed by Crepes - and lots of 'em. I remember a place on the west side that had meals like this. Does anyone remember the name of that resturant or know if it still exists? Near St. Patricks church (Does St. Patrick's still exist?)

Colette Hebert (Lucas)

I just followed the poutine trail in old posts and found my restaurant answer. Chez Vachon! I would love to join you all sometime. Not for poutine.

Pam Taber

Well you guys are once again too funny!! I remember hearing about the cat litter box and wasn't that at Debbie and Ernie's apt.???

Re: Poutine I had it in Canada but again not the most appealing to me either. Now crepes are a different story!
Having a "AU BON PAIN" in the hospital is dangerous for me!! Just bought 4 chocolate covered coconut macaroons and chocolate dipped shortbread cookies!! I do share them with my ex though!!! Never eat like this but stress is a wonderful thing!

Maura was not able to tolerate being taken off her breathing tube today which we were hoping for so that remains in. Her blood pressures are still needing cardiac medications to maintain her blood pressures too! The only progress today was having her foley catheter taken out as she is urinating effectively on her own. Frustrating but we need to go at Maura's pace and take one day at a time. Please pray that she turns some major corners soon so I can be there raising my glass soon with all of you on the 10'th and hopefully the 9'th too!!
I am getting sleep and eating (not just sweets either!) as I know I can't be a effective advocate for Maura if I get sick too!! I am trying to stay positive but there are times it is all so overwhelming. Don't think all of this has fully hit me yet but when it does I am in for a good cry for sure!

Take care and keep the upbeat bantering and threats going as it does bring a smile to my otherwise long, stressful day!!

Michelle Tanguay (Considine)

How wonderful to hear from you again, Pam. You're doing things correctly...one day at a time. Be assured that you're being prayed for daily. I hope Maura will improve enough for you to be able to join us. Let me know if you need anything or if I can be of help with Emily. Don't forget to get some rest!

Hey, Collette! Yes, Chez Vachon is still there on Kelley Street. Sadly, St Pat's has closed, although the church, rectory, and school buildings are still there. I'm not sure what organization occupies them now.
