I will gladyly start this forum off by thanking Mrs. Gloria Wright and Mr. Wayne Williams(Mr. Gee) for laying out the foundation for me and others. These two people were positive educators who inspired me more than they would ever know, thank God for them. Mrs. Gloria Wright, she was always "firm", yet fair to all of us on the cheerleader squad, she always turned the negative into a positive, and for that, I thank her. Also, I had a reputation throughout my years of school with the teachers as having a "bad attitude"; therefore, I wasn't allowed to join certain clubs nor participate in certain activities because of this stigma. Mrs. Wright knew how much that hurt me inside so one day she pulled me aside at T.A. Futrall and had a pep talk with me. She said some things to me that often touch my heart today. One of the things that she said that often sticks out is "Lisa, your attitude is bad, but you are just being a typical teenager, and you want to express yourself more than others, tone it down". Today, when I get upset with my students or any other students that I have the pleasure of encountering, I think of those words that Mrs. Wright said, and I calm down. Also, I am very careful what I say to the children at my school because I know that words hurt deeply. Mr. Williams, what a great math teacher and cheerleader coach, thank you for hanging in there with me. Thanks to you, I was able to pass college algebra with a "B", after taking it for a second time. I remember some of those skills that you taught us and utilized them in the classroom. Also, thank you for always being fair, although we(Shasta)gave you trouble. Furthermore, thank you for exposing us to so many wonderful things, you are still a great educator. There are so many other teachers who inspired me, Mrs. Mitchell, Mrs. Keogh, Ms. Crabb, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Shaw,Coach Shaw, Mr. Sanders, Ms. Wisbrock, Mr. Rod(counselor), Mr. Reeves, Mrs. Coleman, Mrs. Grady, Mrs. McCoy, and many more. I thank all of these educators for being positive people and setting the pace for others.
