Retired! After 40 1/2 years I retired. Enjoy being grandpa. Doing some part time consulting for Great Oaks. Married for 30+ years. Recently purchased a 5th wheel to travel during retirement.
Since High School I have blessed to have found a profession I love. In High School I would have told you my career dream was to be an Athletic Trainer. But in college, that dream no longer was my passion; it had lost its excitement, and my interest. My passion was for more action, more of an adrenal high, to push my physical and psychological stamina to the breaking point. I wanted a profession that my next day maybe my last. I choose to a Firefighter/Paramedic. In October of 1984 I started working for Miami Township Clermont County; now 25 years later I have advanced through the ranks to that of Captain of Training. In 1996, I received an award for Meritorious Service, for an outstanding rescue, at great personal risk, of a disabled man from a fire.
I hold a Bachelor’s in Public Administration. A graduate of the National Fire Academy, and the Maryland Fire & EMS Staff and Command School. I hold an Ohio Adult Teaching License, and teach as an affiliate facility for the Great Oaks JVSD. Work part time for Jones and Bartlett Publishing, serving a technical editor and subject matter expert on Fire & EMS books. I lecture national on such topics as Firefighter Safety & Survival, Mass Causality/Fatality Management, and Wilderness Emergency Medicine. Since 9-11, I had the opportunity to be trained by the military in chemical, biological, and radioactive “live agent”; a little scary, but what a rush.
My hobbies include any shooting sports, camping, hunting, golf, horseshoes, metal detecting, gold panning and wood working.
