Going through some things I found my St. Mary's grade cards my mother saved. Do you remember our teacher's. The 8th grade card didn't have a teacher listed, I think it was Mrs. Daniels?
1. Sister Mary Eugene
2. Sister Mary Magdalena
3. Mrs. Maxwell
4. Miss Fry
5. Mrs. M Andrews
6. Sister Irene Therese
7. Sister Francis Adelaide
8B. Mrs. Daniels?

Hi Mike!

We all had different teachers, for at least some of the grades...remember" A" and "B" grades? I thought we had all stayed together all 8 years in terms of A and B, but maybe not. I also feel like you and I  were in the same class all 8 years, Mike, yet I feel pretty certain I didn't have Mrs. Maxwell.

This is what my 65 year old brain remembers, which is more that I remember about what happened last week! :

1. Yes, Sr. Mary Eugene for sure...she scared me to death and made me wish I could just stay home with my Mommy the rest of my life! I got in trouble with her for being in girls rest room too long or something like that...think I was with Cheryl Berridge and maybe the Jeannie and Janie Granger?

2. I think I had Sr. Robert Ann, but yet I did have Sr. Mary Magdalena, but don't think it was in 2nd. Both were young and pretty.

3. Mrs. Powers (who also taught us in High School as Mrs. Drake)...pretty positive of this...very kind...LOVED her!

4. Wasn't it Miss Fye, not Fry?She was also sweet and I remember being glad I had her instead of the other 4th grade teacher, who's name I can't come up with, but pretty sure it was a nun.

5. Yes, Mrs. Andrews, also very kind and a good teacher! Think Sr. Mary Gregory was the alternate. She's the one that used to play dodge ball or something with the boys at recess.

6.Yes, Sr. Irene Therese...pulled my pony tail as I reached up to talk to Mary Richardson! :)

7. Yes. Sr. Francis Adelaide...still scares the ba-Jesus our of me!! But did a great job with the Irish Dancing we were required to perform! I think she's the one who made us tell the class what our father's did and when I proudly said my Dad owned The Ritz Bar and Grill,...I got a dirty look and she quickly went to the next person, hoping that he had a more dignified way to make a living! :)

8. Mr. Stringer  ( I think the other teacher was Sister Mary Joanna, but not sure...she may have been the principal. Loved Mr. Stringer (Mike Stringer).  I think that may have been his first teaching assignment, but he seemed he  treated us  as if we were the big 8th graders that we thought we were!

I know I never had Mrs. Daniels

Hope this helps, but I'm a little fuzzy about St. Mary Magdalena in 2nd grade...and if I did, thenI  did I not have Sr.Robert Ann? Hopefully other classmates can help with the puzzle. Magdalena had a pretty and young round face. Robert Ann was also young and pretty, but I'm recalling a more narrow face

Thanks, Mike...a nice diversion from real life right now! Hope all is wel with you!   ~ Rita

5-Mrs Truka

6-Mrs Drake

7-Mrs Drake

8-Mr Stringer (I remember him throwing chalk and erasers to get your attention)

I just found this on the MCH site.  Don't know how I missed it before??  How fun.

My memories of teachers follows.  You are right Rita there were two classes each year and at some point the people in each class seemed to stay together.  I remember as follows although I can't believe I do.....

1st)  Sr.  Mary Eugene

2nd)  Drawing a blank

3rd)  Mrs. Powers (later Mrs. Drake in HS English)

4th)  Sr. Agnes Miriam ---very mean!  I have one memory of her picking George Murphy up by his shoulders and banging him against the blackboard!  I don't remember what he did.  But we were all terrified of her.

5th)  I had Mrs. Truka.  The other class had my mother, Mrs. Andrews

6th)  I think that we had Mrs. Powers/ Drake again for 6th or 7th.  I just remember that during the year she got shingles and everyone said that our class was so bad that we gave them to her!

8th) Mr Stringer.  I remember that he was a lot of fun.
