I have a good friend who has a great connection at Carnival Cruise Lines, which sails out of many different ports, including Ft. Lauderdale, near my home. A cruise might be the most economical way to go, when you consider the cost of three nights in a motel and restaurant meals, which most of us would incur, even if we held the event in Marion. Please give me some feedback, and I'll ask my friend to check on group prices. What dates are we considering?

Thanks for all your work, Rich, Debbie, Gary, Steve, and everyone else who is putting this together.

We will have a posting soon of all that we discussed on the conference call, so look for that, and keep talking through this. I think the last we had decided was to try and get more people contacted before making a decision, but some of the original six are going to talk soon about this too

While we consider where to have the reunion, keep in mind this needs to be as inclusive as possible. And like Eileen said, not everyone may be able to afford a cruise or other destination that would have "resort" level price tags. Certainly, we will not please all the people all the time. However, whatever is decided, the goal should be to achieve maximum turn out. We will not get everyone for sure as some simply will not want to attend for whatever justification. So be it.

Do not misunderstand; I am not against a destination event. We love to travel. In fact, I would like to see this group meeting every 5 years from now on and rotating to a new location close to each classmate's adopted hometown would be great! I also like Rich’s suggestion of Lake Erie for the fortieth as it has a lot to offer our group.

That said, it’s been 20 years since the last reunion and there was only one other prior to that. It appears many folks are anxious to reconnect after so long. And this is almost like starting over and the first time again. I am just suggesting it needs to be more about the reconnection and less about the vacation aspect. We need to get to know one another again.

I am a little worried about a destination reunion. I am a teacher and it's hard to get off of school. The money thing might be an issue for many.My daughter is getting married July 11th so that date is out for me.I kinda think it should be simple so more people will attend.

Just to change the subject for a minute, if you go to my profile you will notice that I have loaded my senior year picture. If you have your senior picture or if someone has a copy of the senior paper with all of our pictures please send it to me and I will load the pictures. Only the administrator can do this little trick.

I also like the idea of Rich's offer with local hotels for us to stay at and a place to eat meals and have a private meeting space to play reunion games etc. and a room for our spouse and ourselves to get away from the madding and/or boring crowd Would late june be warm enough to swim in lake Erie, COULD WE RENT A SMALL BOAT FOR A "THREE HOUR CRUISE"

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Rich I have that paper if I can find it I will send it

I just have two thoughts for everyone to ponder as we move closer to the next conference call on Sunday. As we move forward with the planning stages and more people join the calls, there will be more confusion. I think we need an executive committee to make all of the major decisions and delegate tasks to the rest of us who are available to help. The calls are great and it is so much fun to hear everyone's voice after so many years and they help to keep the excitement level high. Lets continue the calls but establish the committee to organize and delegate the work. I suggest the original 6 who first began the process while attending the MCH reunion last year serve if they desire and are available. I believe it was Mary Ann, Eileen, Steve, Rita, Elinor and Julie.
I really believe that we owe it to all of our classmates to make it as easy as possible for them to attend this reunion. If they choose not to attend, then at least we will have done our part to make it as fair as possible for everyone by holding it in Marion or someplace very close. A destination sounds great for the next one, hopefully soon after. Since it has been so long since the last reunion and apparently there are still some wounds that need to heal, we shouldn't alienate anyone by making this reunion out of reach for someone who would really like to attend. Thoughts?

I am inclined to agree with Dan. I am comfortable with a committee to plan the reunion. I would hope that the committee would use this site to get input from anyone who wants to put their two cents in but the group is too big to all participate fully.

I also agree that we need to make it as inviting to all as possible, even if that means staying in Marion.

I agree with Dan and Rich. A destination reunion for the next one would be better! I also like the idea of the committee. I won't be able to be a part of this next conference call either but I do want to help contact people or help with the arrangements. The Sept. 4th date is not a problem anymore!
We stayed in a Holiday Inn in Marion for an event this summer and it was very nice and reasonably priced.
We will be in Hilton Head next week so I will try and contact John Wynn.
I look forward to all the updates!

So glad to hear that Ellen may be able to track down Jack Wynn. I may be late on the conference call on Sunday, but will try to get on ASAP..

Glad that more people are coming on each week. I am sending letters out to some classmates who haven't been on yet. One of these days, I will search through my stuff because I saved a lot of school newspapers and other misc. memorabelia.

A reunion in Marion or close by is fine with me. We also love to travel and as someone mentioned, maybe we do a cruise or resort at a later time.
Looking forward to the call this Sunday!

Marion or close to Marion is fine with me - it will give me a rare opportunity to visit my parents. If we do base ourselves in Marion, maybe we could do an afternoon outing to Mt. Gilead State Park or some other close outdoor setting which has recreational opportunities. Of course, Rich's lake idea is fine with me, too.

I would love for this to be handled by a committee, and will help with anything I can. My husband and I will be taking a week-long vacation out West in late June or late July, but we will work around whatever the majority plans as far as dates.

A side note: Mary Hotz now lives in Largo, Florida, and should be joining us soon. She is remarried, to Bob Etchells, so can someone please remove the Saunders from in back of her name? Thanks!

But I do want to state that I will be happy to have the friday night thing. The party would be held outside so hopefully we could do it when the weather is still warm.I was wondering if anyone has talked to steve Schuler? I work at St. Mary's School in Delaware and I know some of my parents go to Steve for their peditrician. I will see if I can get more information.Hope the conference call goes well. God Bless.

I talked to my mom this evening. She has an apartment at a retirement facility on the south end of Marion. She said that Dick Tobin was there recently and gave a piano concert for the residents. She said that he was terrific. Apparently this is what he does now since retiring from Whirlpool. He knows that we are planning a reunion so hopefully he will be joining us soon. Do any of the Marion folks run into him?

I will try and get Steve Schuler's info from my mom. She does lunch and shopping with Mrs Schuler.
FYI---Steve's dad died about 3 weeks ago.
Another FYI---Bob New is trying to find all Track Stars for the Track Reunion next summer. As soon as I get his email I will post it. He would like for all of the track stars to contact him.

Hi, Steve. I was just browsing to see if anyone new had joined the gang.

The 1969 music is great! I've got half my office singing along to Hair.

Carol, thanks for the message about Dave, as sad as it was. It's good to know that there are people who are still in touch, and are able to provide some support.

Just wanted to say thank you to all of you who started the "Reunion Agenda", and thanks to Carol and Kathy for their messages, and Eileen for her postcard.
Brent and I try to get to Ohio to see family at least once a year, and we had a plan for a road trip in July. But as you see gas prices have again started to rise, and boy you folks up north have had some crappy weather, and why would anyone want to drive 1000 miles in the rain....so we booked air for Sept. We arrive in Columbus on Friday the 4th at 5:30, and hope to make it to the party. Can't wait to see everyone. As I read some of your profiles....I know I was not in the same classes as some of you....and it makes me wonder...where the hell was I? Anyway...can't wait to hear the old stories. See you soon!
Always,
Karen (KJ)

Hi, everyone. Just wanted to confirm that I will be attending the reunion...my parents have moved into town, 2 blocks from the high school, so we have free lodgings and an excuse to see George and Marjorie.

Mary Hotz will probably come too. I'm working on her!

I have noticed from the statistics that a lot of you are still visiting the site. We need to think of something exiting to do here. Perhaps another game like the email tag or monthly chats or monthly on-line birthday parties. This is your site, what kind of ideas do you have? Is there anything you would like to see here? Let's start a new discussion!
