Chris Evertsen died in a motorcycle accident in February 1964.
Services for Christian C. (Chris) Evertsen, 1601 E. Nevada St., who died Monday in a motorcycle accident, were at 2 p.m. Thursday at Elim Lutheran Church with the Rev. B. O. Lokensgard in charge. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
Bearers were John Studts, Ronald Middlekoop, Gary Jordan, George Bell, Henry Bradbury and John Readout.
Groups attending were Gralnek Motors, Corn Belt Oil Company, S. S. Kresge Co., faculty of the Nevada schools, students and faculty of Marshalltown High School, and Community College groups of Elim Lutheran Church and members of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority of Ames.

Chris lived across the street from my maternal grandmother in Marshalltown before we went to school. When I stayed at my grandmother's with my brother, he would come over to play. Our parents wouldn't let us cross 3rd Avenue but he could come over. He always carried a blanket and my family called him "chief". Was sorry to hear he had passed so young.
