As a classmate, we knew Steve Bratzel as Steve Sweeney.  He later changed his last name to Bratzel.  Condolences to Steve's family.

Steven Roy Bratzel, 79, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, in his home. As per Steven's wishes services will be private and held at a later date. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is in charge of the arrangements. Steven was born Sept. 30, 1944 , the son of Anne Belle Sweeney and Roy David Bratzel. He graduated from Marshalltown high School where he played football and basketball. His passion in life was growing plants and flowers from his greenhouse in Oelwein to his landscaping and nursery in Marshalltown. He enjoyed many outdoor activities, but pheasant hunting and trout fishing were his favorite. Steven is survived by his daughter Sarah Bratzel Kozelsky and two sons, Hans and Zac Bratzel; as well as his four grandchildren Nathan, Eli, Leona and Elke.
