Karen Schmellik, 73, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on February 28, 2017 at Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad, Iowa.

Karen L Wilkinson was born in Marshalltown, Iowa; she was the daughter of Frank and Helen “Peg” (Reiss) Wilkinson. She attended school in the Gilman school and then graduated from Marshalltown Community School District with the Class of 1962.  Karen was united in marriage to Don Westphal and they later divorced, she then married Darwin Schmellik.  Karen had worked at Fisher Controls and MMSC. She enjoyed crafts and in her younger years she enjoyed fishing. She loved and enjoyed family time.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Richard (Tina) Westphal of Marshalltown, Iowa; grandchild, Justin Westphal, step-grandchildren, John Schatzman and Jennifer Fleming; great grandchildren: Liam Fleming, Kayla Fleming and Ainsligh Schatzman.
