Wish I could join you guys this weekend but wife, kids and mosquitos call. I will have some Single Barrel in Mr. Schwake's honor.

Jon Kriegel, check CNN - Jacko is hasta so I assume you won't be touring this summer. Sorry to break the news. Zeppelin needs a drummer though.

Ok, it's 7:00pm Sunday evening and I'm back in Kansas (there's no place like home.......) Lauri and I had a fantastic time both nights of the reunion. So thanks to everyone that made it so enjoyable. I only have one problem with the entire weekend. I'm not going to say who, but Marie Maertens, Rob Foster and myself all witnessed a classmate using KETCHUP at Taylors Maidrite. I could not believe my ears and eyes to see this happening.... no one said a word either... This classmate even said something like "oh I love ketchup on," or "finally ketchup available for my maidrite." I was fabbergasted, lost for words, totally lost respect. Bet she's a republican!

Lane , that should have been an automatic discharge from the class. Then there would be room for you. It was great seeing you, keep in touch and when I get to retire in 30 or 40 more years I can travel down to see you. L O L ; )

Marie Maertens

Lane, something was said to you know who? I couldn't believe it either. I didn't think I'd ever see a bottle of ketchup in Taylor's, let alone sitting with the person using it - I told her it was unacceptable!

It was great seeing everyone! Kudos to everyone who helped make it a huge success. I know it had to be alot of work - sorry us out of towners always get out of the work.

Can't wait to see the pictures of the reunion posted!

Hey everyone. Just wanted to say it was great to see all of you. I was happy to see that many of us, didn't let social boundaries from high school keep us from getting to know each other. I made friends with classmates I knew but never talked to in high school.
So glad we have come a long way. this weekend was a blast.

Wow it's over what will I do with all my spare time, (start planning the 40th) I will be posting the pictures the committee took once I get them all from the committee to compile a nice slide show with music for you to enjoy, as we receive different pictures I may change them up a bit, or add another slide show we'll see..I'm glad everyone had a great time, I sure did enjoy seeing everyone. A few of you stumped me because of the changes and improvements and want to let you know if you posted some pictures on your web page that won't happen at the 40th...Take care all and keep this website growing with classmates yet not posted and keep your address current for me...get home safe..

So happy to see everyone on Saturday night at KC Hall. Everyone looked great!! The years have been good to many of you. Looking forward to the 40-yr...or is it a 35 at Bernie's place??!!

Anyway, I had a fantastic time and hope to see you all at the next reunion. Hopefully we can get more to attend (can't believe how many who still live in the area didn't come!)

Take care everyone!

Lisa Cochran (Fehrmann)

Wow what a great time! It was so fun to see everyone this weekend. I am so sad it is over! I wish that we were doing a 35 years as 10 years seems too long. Anyone want to do something small for a 35 year? It wouldn't have to be a lot. What are your thoughts??
Thanks so much for all the hard work that the committee did. It was a fun relaxing weekend.

Hats off to the folks on the committee that was the heart and sol of the 30 year reunion! I know everything did not happen to the plan but with all the events and things that went on behind the scenes I felt it was a great weekend! I know people want a 35th reunion and all but the old saying 10% of the people do 100% of the work and it was work. I really did not do that much and my ass is still drag'n!

Thanks to the Friday golf organizer's & all the cold beverages & burgers from the Decker's - Denise & Dave!

JT is was great spending some time with you! I wish I could have spent more time with other fellow classmates. Jerry Donaldson I enjoyed speaking to you and Lizz @ the park Saturday afternoon! Drago, I almost forgot what you really looked like since you were the phantom of the chat board! Kriegel you the man! Vawt, Rit, Odie & Stoffee you should consider the PGA? McGregor's group sucked, they had plenty of help w/ Cindy and Marie besides someone in the group was very selfish!

Harder won the no hair award but you should have shaved before the morning of the 27th! A little sun would have covered some of the cheezy glare! I hope to see you for the second time in 20 years this weekend @ the lake.

I had to cut out for an hour to go to a surprise 40th birthday party in Haverhill and I ran into Deanna Stalzer so it was worth the trip. Back to the KC hall after midnite to pick up the sound equipment (thanks Jerry Childress)! Spent 2 hours this morning getting the refer truck unstuck @ the BBQ beer garden. Now looking forward to spending the 4th of July @ my cabin @ Lake Ponderosa w/ family!

If we did not have a chance to speak to each other - it's probably both our faults! Maybe in ten years we will have more to chat about!

Again, thanks to everyone!

Cheers

Dean

Yes---hats off to the committee. We cannot say enough about how much your work is appreciated. This was definitely the best reunion ever in my opinion.
Everyone was relaxed and just having a great time.

I see some wishes for a 35th and of course the underlying issue of so much work for too few people.
Here's my thought for a possible 35th--

*End of August/Early Sept time frame (cooler weather, fewer bugs, fewer conflicting personal events)

*Riverview Park
*BYOP (bring your own picnic)
*Clean up and pack your own trash
*Rent a DJ - cost would be minimal if divided by those who would attend.

Results- same work for everyone, same cleanup for everyone- fun for everyone.

I've been to reunions and get togethers where this works. Why wouldn't this work for the class of '79?

Yes, thanks again to the committee, it was a great time!! They did an awesome job!! I had a lot of fun seeing everyone and good old Marshalltown.

Jana Manz (Hamlett)

Even though I was just there Friday night, I had a great time!! I agree we should not wait 10 years to get together again. Life is too short and precious not to make an effort to see each other in 5, even if it is informal.

Thank you:

Tami Awes Smith, Dean Fogarty, Teia George Anderson, John Haney, Terry Harris, Kari Hennis-Riemenschneider, Scott Kilstrom, Fauna Mohler-Nord, Deb Stone Akins, and Lonnie Krietlow Ethington

Great work what a wonderful reunion.

I am proud to be part of the class of 79. Our class epitomizes the meaning of hospitality, the genuine friendship, caring and warmth shown by everyone was uplifting.

Thanks Dean for taking the time out of your work day to just BS and show me around Marshalltown, you’re a hell of guy and should run fro mayor. Scott, thank you and your family for their hospitality. Kirk, thanks roomy (sorry about the snoring). Terri and Patrick thank you for the hospitality, and for the shots of limoncello. Jennifer, thank you and your mom for the Sunday chat and the hospitality, tell your mom I still think she deserves a medal for baby sitting all of us when we were kids.

My only regret, time went too fast, preventing me from being able to speak at length with many and catch up on life. Thank you all of my classmates for making Marshalltown still my home away from home.

I would also like to add my THANKS and appreciation to the committee members who pulled the whole weekend together....GREAT JOB!!!!!! It was a fun time and so nice to see people I haven't seen since the 25th reunion. I echo others 10 years is too long to wait, I like Mary's idea or would be interested in other ideas for a 35th get together. I would also be willing to help.

Where are we supposed to put pics from the weekend?

Denise Stover (Bryan)

On behalf of those of us who live out of town/state, I would like to especially thank our classmates who live in M'town. I know the burden to pull something like this falls on you all. Thanks for your hard work. I had a great time. My only regret is that there wasn't enough time to chat with everyone I would have liked to.

As a teacher, I know every class has a unique personality. At both evening events as I watched and listened I wondered what teachers would have said about our class. (Ok, I know what some of them said about me!!!) I would describe our class as fun loving and creative, but also a just really nice group.

Hi Everyone,

What great memories I will be able to reflect on from our 30 year reunion. The committee deserves more than just a thank you but I don't know what else to say. You all did a fantastic job planning a 48 hour party for 200+. The events were so much fun and the food was great, not to mention the entertainment. (You are really talented Jon K.) My only complaint is that it was too short. I feel really blessed to have shared my high school years with such a great group of people. My only regret is that in high school I didn't get to know more of you. Living out of Marshalltown since 1979 and not having much family left alive there probably makes me more nostalgic than most about coming back. For me, Marshalltown will always be home. You, my classmates from Rogers, Miller, MHS will always hold a very special place in my heart. We had really great times. Our reunions give me a chance to relive all those great times and revisit all those great friends and if i'm lucky, make some new ones. So to all of you that make this possible, Thanks just isn't enough.
