Anyone,
I was talking to a co-worker today, he asked me how many people were in my class? I guess that I really do not know. Does anyone know what the offical count was at graduation?

Jerry,
If I recall right, we were about 455 strong in '79

According to the stats I was able to get; we had 463 graduate in our class. If you look on one of the last pages in our yearbook, there is a sign that the "lunch ladies" Bev and Char are holding that says goodbye to the 464 graduating seniors.
We had about 80 more classmates when we started in 10th grade - they either moved, dropped out or are still missing within the walls of MHS.

Things to do for those of you during the day on Saturday and Sunday of course the barbeque is going on all day Fri-Sat free bands and then you can purchase tickets for a yummy taste from each booth.
For those coming in early Thurs-Sun 87th Gladbrook Corn Carnival with tons of activities going on all weekend check the local paper out for more info or I will have it down at the park on Friday.
On Sunday at the John Ernest Vineyard & Winery from 3-5 they have a great local band Major Day playing for free, bring blankets and or lawn chairs and some thing to munch on as they have the wine you can purchase..great time..
Then for the gamblers there is always the Meskwaki Casino in Tama. If your not coming to our Friday event at the park there is always the races at the Marshalltown Fairgrounds.
Then there is always the wonderful swimming pool for those daytime sun seekers and the Amercian Legion Golf Course remember to get a tee time....

Is anyone going to out and about Thursday evening? If so, where does old folks are age hang out? My younger sister mentioned to me that the 'Old Timer' under the Center Street bridge is a popular joint....my grandfather used to take me there back in the 70's.

fyi---also at Brick's Bar (on Main across from Orpheum) they are having a good band on Friday night from 9pm-1am. Melodie Proffitt Band out of Des Moines. Down the hall from Brick's in the same building, Coppertop (former Backstage) is having "One Man and a Guitar)...fun bar to hang out in. A lot of fun this weekend in Marshalltown. Class of 1989 is having their 20-year and on Friday night they will be setup somewhere down at the park....those "youngsters!"

Kari said we will have to be out of the park by midnight. So, if still in party mode, check out Brick's, TC's, Old Timer, JD's, Coppertop, or wherever you use to hangout...all the bars should be busy this weekend. Can't wait to see everyone this weekend!

ps Former Beaner's is now Blue Note Lounge. They just opened on June 15th. Not sure if they are having anything going on, but as always they do have billards, etc...And Brian, yep the Old Timer is a good spot for "our" crowd.

who puts ketchup on their maidrite??? That is sooo wrong!

06/24/09 01:11 PM #207

ketchup is sacrilegious IMHO, I heard that from afar and wept openly in public LOL. Did see Taylor's on a best sandwiches show on food network a couple years back.

Still partying like a rock star when I can! LOL
I'll be at the park early Fri, then possibly uptown. Was talking to my sis about where crotchety old F'rs like me can get a Dr. Daniel's! LMAO
I have the technology, we can swing that Teri

So Andy, you and Jack still hanging out after all these years!!! I'm a bit tamer...bacardi for me, but make it strong! I go out about once a week nowadays and usually only on a Friday or a Saturday depending on which night there is something going on around town. When I go out, I mostly hang out at Brick's, Coppertop, and Old Timer. Occasionally, I will stop and have a few at Vaughn's Pub.

One of my fav bands is at Brick's on Friday night...that is where you;ll find me. You might see me at the Park early on Friday evening, but I didn't sign up for the event at Reunion Hall. If I go, I will be over by the band shell, or I might just head straight up to Brick's around 8PM to get a seat so I can hear the band I like.

The Old Timer is still good place for "our age" crowd, but mostly an "early" bar for our crowd (right after work). Our age usually is heading out the door well before midnight! lol....not me, I try stay til they say, "go away!!!".

Oh, and from previous inquiries about last concert attended, my last was Seether, Saving Abel, and Nickelback. My next is Heart & Journey at this year's IA State Fair. Think I might have to go see Peter Frampton, too...Frampton Live album...wasn't that one of our class anthems (Do You Feel Like I Do)?? What a good Album, just wish I knew what happened to all of my albums from the 70s!!!

I'm gonna start selling some dinner reservations that we counted into the count for classmates that haven't responded to my emails, but had to have a count into the caterer on Wednesday...we had some classmates on the website with the attendance marked but not paid yet, so we counted them in, well now its getting late and we want to offer them to anyone that didn't think they wanted to attend the Saturday night event but now want to.
Contact me only because I am keeping the count. Or if you know one of the classmates that hasn't called me yet they need to do so cuz I'm gonna give their meal away to the first come first serve basis. Call me at 641-751-3103

Marie - You better have Whitehill at the course ready to go at 11:30 because she is still officially our 4th after you bailed to golf with the country club yuppies..it's carved in marble...can't be undone. Or, better yet, be at DJ's bar (the one 1 block east of the old timer, or if closed , the old timer) at 10am so Carrie W. can buy everybody bloodies!
