Hey Jon, went and saw Disturbed last week with Killswitch at Wells Fargo (got a story to tell you about that one - Seems David Draiman is a huge foosball fan..the band takes its own table from concert to concert looking for players. Since I run the foo's scene in DSM and most of Iowa I got invited to go backstage and knock it around with them...man if I was only 20 years younger...whew!!!)
Before that it was a couple of months ago, saw Nickelback with Seether and Saving Abel (one of the best concerts I have ever been to!!)

My last concert was Tom Petty in Omaha last year. It was awesome.

Which one of you townies is going to bring his or her amp (with aux input for external source) and speakers down to the KC hall Saturday afternoon so I don't have to bring the trailer down from MN ?

Doug, I was also at Nickelback. They were GREAT and what a cool, cool stage show. Saving Able was really good but as far as Seether; just my opinion but,,, kinda a bunch of 'head bangin' noise. It was worth waiting thru to hear Nickelback blast off with "Gotta meet the hottie with the million dallar body!!!" Never get too old for some good old Rock & Roll.

Hey Dean that's pretty cool that you get to meet the "stars" (hehe). I bet some of them are jerks and probably pretty arrogant.

Jon, just read your school story. You mentioned HEART. Ann and Nancy, hubba hubba. Oh ya. You left out the part about Scallon leaving you out in the rain. Thats a much better story.

JP - next time you're hanging with him, you better finish off that blunt before it starts sprinkling. If that class of 80 Scalawag shows up to our reunion, I've got a special tune dedicated just for him: Bowie's "China Girl"... and you know what I'm talking about JP.

Doug - You are obviously one of the few nearly 50-year-olds here that has the kahonas to attend real rock shows. I salute you. That's saying a lot more than somebody I know who left a Sevendust show to go looking for Glen Miller's orchestra in the rain (see above).

Nickelback: I used to listen to them a lot back in '99 up until about 2003, before it turned into the "Chad Kroeger Ego Fest". Now I prefer bands with a less polished, more raw sound, like Seether, Godsmack, Sevendust, Breaking Benjamin, and of course Disturbed. Of course there's still some great more melodic bands out there that I do enjoy also, like Three Days Grace, Shinedown, and 3 Doors Down.

I'm sad to hear this because it will be the last reunion until our 40th..and I don't know why anyone would want to miss a minute of Saturday night...but here it goes...
Because we have heard rumors about people crashing the Saturday night event because they don't want the meal, there will still be a charge at the door of $15/person to help off set the cost of the event (KC Hall rental $400.00) (invites $300 with postage), (decorations & snacks aren't free).
Doors for those people will be opened at 9:00 for the dance and are still asked it be paid for in advance.

Ok, new question......... What was your first car, did it have a name, any stories?

Mine was a baby blue 1964 1/2 Mustang, no name for it, and no story other than I gave it away...

1968 1/2 Mercury Montego, Turquoise with a White hardtop, probably called it a few different names when it wouldn't run but wont post those here, lol.

1972 Ford Gran Torino Sport fastback, red / black interior. 351w engine (dog)! In college I built a 429 cobra jet engine, added 3.89 posi rear end. Wow,,, had plenty of power now! Can't really remember any names but man I sure had a lot of fun in that car. I also learn how to pay (a lot of) traffic fines. Believe it or not, the last ticket I've gotten in a car was in 1981, drag racing. Did ya know ya loose your license for a full year for that one? I also learned that lawyers are very expensive with that car. Funny thing, later that year I bought a 1976 Ford Granada, quiet and slow and haven't had a ticket since. My wife says I drive like an old grandpa now, well I'm not a grandpa yet but I guess I'm getting ready for that day. Lot of fun memories of those hotrod days scoopin the loop and burnin a lot of rubber.

Lewie, I seem to remember that bug didn't have a big enough gas tank. Oh well, we were young, in good shape and able to walk.

Officially my first car was a 1969 Buick LeSabre. The second day I had my license me and Mike O. were driving it and I decided see how much tire I could leave on the pavement going around a corner. I lost control went over the curb and took out a parking sign...that was my first discussion with law enforcement and unfortunately not my last!! My senior year though I bought my Chevelle and , well, lots and lots of stories there. Senior skip day and all the cars going to LDF to do burnouts has to rank up there.
Jack (or should I say Grandpa) wish I could have followed in your footsteps. Just sold my Camaro about a year ago...and just got off of SR-22.. :) I built a nitrous, fuel injected stroker motor Camaro that I would take downtown Des Moines to the Midnight street races and show the now high school aged kids how us ole' fogies use to do it! I guess some of us never grow up.
All the car guys that I use to hang around with will appreciate this...he didn’t graduate with us but most of you probably remember Vic Hale. Through the power of the internet I hooked up with him several months ago. Him and his son are terrorizing the streets of Cedar Rapids.

Dean, I'm thinking in your case there were no bad locations..... but personally I found the parking lot of the little league fields a good spot, along with a grassy area near 3 grain bins south of LeGrand has some fond memories too, as does Wolf Lake.

lane,
fogarty's "most current friend rules"
1. no minors
2. no animals
3. make sure it's consentual

past that, whatever makes dean happy.
that edit feature kicks ass.

Jay,
It's a good thing the girls of 80',81',82',83',84',85', 86',87',88',89',90' and beyond do not have access to this site. I'm sure they would have some interesting insight on that orange truck. I remember one drove a mo-ped while we were all in college..

In reading this forum, I was trying to figure out how Fogarty (it was always Fogarty, as in Fogarty's Dad, Fogarty's Scotty dog, Fogarty's pop-up trailer; how come our generation didn't use first names?) makes a living selling beer in Marshalltown...
