Steve was a great friend! I remember 'kicking' football notes back and forth in freshman English! I'm sad we won't see his smiling face at the reunion.

Steve was my next door neighbor and close friend - we grew up together - his grandma would beat my butt just as quick as his. Steve was a super intellectual and amazing person. He had a rough family life, but excelled in school none the less. I'm just sorry we didn't keep in touch. I used to make him play the saxophone for me continuously. I can't tell you how many hours we spent mushroom and ginseng hunting - he had the "eye" for it.

Steve was a very close friend. We kept in touch weekly until I moved to Detroit. I have fond memories of fishing, hunting together with Mike Pence and Pat White. He spent many weekends at my parents' house during HS.

As was mentioned, Steve had a very rough childhood. He tried to work through those issues for years. He eventually was diagnosed as schizophrenic. In October of 2001 he decided to stop taking his medication without letting anyone know because it dulled his mind he said. In November of 2001 he decided he couldn't live with his condition anymore.

He was a great friend and I think of him often. He will always be missed.
