Comments:
Well, I went to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL, right after graduating with the usual high hopes and expectations. I did well adjusting to my first semster, but fell to partying during the month and a half spring break season that never seemed to end. I came back to Martinsville after that and attended IUPUI part-time to repair the damage that I had done.
In 1991, I was working full time at the airport in Indianapolis and stopped taking classes. I didn't take anymore classes until 1998, when my then fiance (Vanessa Wilde from X103 if you listened to X103 in the 90's) and I moved to Detroit so that she would work for a bigger radio station. We moved to Daytona Beach in 1999, and I returned to Embry-Riddle and finished my Engineering Physics degree. I worked in the Space Physics Research Lab for 3 years while there and was the Senior Class President the semester I graduated in 2002.
I also organized a team to complete in NASA's Great Moonbuggy Race held in Huntsville, AL. We didn't win but it was fun.
Vanessa and I have been married since 2000. We adopted 3 wonderful kids from the foster care system in 2008. We divorced in 2010.
Currently, I'm in a cube farm at Exelis (Space System Division) in Fort Wayne, IN. I'm the Chief Engineer for the CrIS program. CrIS is the next generation of Polar Orbiting weather satellite.
It took me a long time to get where I am. I worked the usual jobs in high school. I worked air freight for a number of years then worked for the Indianapolis Water Company before going back to school.
While in college, I worked as a tutor and as a research assistant in the Space Physics Research Lab. My lab position sent me to Norway in 2001, which is a great place to visit. I spent a day in Oslo before going to a remote island in the arctic circle to do field calibrations of some instruments there.
