I'm an IT guy for my profession
Other things I do...
I do Medieval Re-enactment (like Civil War, but 600ad to 1600ad). I do leatherwork, jewelery, music, brew alchohol, cook, teach other about it as well. It is a family activity.
I actually met my wife thru the re-enactment group, and after being together since 1995 (known her since about 1993) got married in 98 and had our son in 2000.
My son Sean is taking an interest in learning some of the medieval metal working (pouring pewter jewelery I have designed from that era) and some leatherworking as well.
We also are a Scouting family. My son has been involved since 1st grade and the wife and I have as well. I am his den leader, and this is his last year as a cub. he will be going to Boy Scouts this February. We have between 6-9 other boys in the den that will cross over with him. It has been challanging at times, but it has been great to see the boys grow into young men that will hopefully become good influnces on others as they continue to grow.
I have great memories about alot of my teachers from school, but the ones that Stick out in my mind the most (at least right now) are:
Mr. Vanbuskirk - who help cultivate the inner geek in me (yes, I do still play with resistors and chips on occasion, and just did a little wiring over the weekend in the kitchen)
Coach Sidewitz (can never remember how to spell his name) - Gym was never one of my strong suites, and I hated to run, but the one thing that I appreciate and try to instill on those younger than I as he did with us is to do everything you possibly can, NOW! He said, learn as much about, and do as many sports and activities as you can when you are young, so you dont look stupid trying to figure it out when you get older. Made perfect sense to me, and I have done just that. I dont get to do many of them these days, but I can if I want to. it applies to everything, not just sports :)
