John R. Bicknell Jr., 60, Columbus, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at the Medicalodge Nursing Home in Columbus.
According to his wishes, he was cremated, and no service is planned at this time.
He was born Nov. 20, 1948, in Columbus, the son of John “Jack” R. and Mattie Merrick Bicknell.
He grew up in Marysville and lived in Las Vegas, Wichita, Texas and Fort Scott. He graduated from college with a degree in accounting.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam era and served in the Navy for 8 years, traveling to many areas including Africa.
He married Judith A. Robertson May 25, 2001, in Columbus. She survives at the home.
He was a truck driver and worked for various companies for 20 years.
Other survivors include a son, Joel Bicknell, Tulsa; a daughter, Dawn Reiser, Topeka; three stepdaughters, Janet Ellison, Columbus, Jacqueline Litle, Adrian, Mo., and Julie Edwards, Grove, Okla.; a sister, Ann Hulett, Albuquerque, N.M.; two brothers, James Bicknell, Kansas City, and Philip Gribble, Columbus; and four grandchildren.
