Sandy Whaley (Baker)

Hi everyone. Just to let you know Sandy is home. Everything went well with the surgery yesterday. Her neck is a little sore and her throat is scratchy, but otherwise she is fine. She has no restrictions but won't return to work until Tuesday.
Johanna is spoiling her, in a good way of course! She is a great nurse to hear Sandy talk about her.
Sandy also wants everyone to know that she appreciates the thoughts and prayers.

Hello classmates

Wanted to let you know. I am on my way to Durham, I was suppose to go to Atlanta today but my son in law called this morning. Shanna had little Lydia this morning in the doctor's office, 6 lbs. She had a month early. Was unable to make it to the hospital had one hour of labor. It was the first time in 10 years they had delivered a baby in the office. They sent her by ambulance to hospital after delivery. The hospital was just around the corner from the doctor's office. Who would have thought she would be a month early. Shanna was three weeks late when I had her. I am going to be there for a few weeks, however, long they need me. I will keep you posted and send pictures. Love to all

Pat,
That's wonderful about your grandchild too! I hope everything continues to go well. At UT, we have so many premie's. I don't see them, but I hear about them. They are always asking for donations. There are people that make their little diapers and sleep clothes. It's such a blessing!

Linda,
Could I still get a cd made of the reunion? What is the latest time I could drop one off or could I mail you one?

Jane

Today was a real bust on trying to get together, huh. I'm actually at work so wouldn't have made it either, plus my son, daughter, son-in-law and grandchild have decided to watch the game at my house. Might be halftime before I leave, but that's OK. It's the last quarter that counts most, right? GO VOLS!!!

Jane, you can drop a CD off here anytime before 5 p.m. You can leave the CD with the receptionist to give to me if I'm not here. If you need to come after 5, call me at 981-1168 and I can let you in.

Hi Everyone,

First, Diane, Congratulations on Little Lydia. What a wonderful thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey, Pickle, I love your exclamations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Life should be full of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Second, thank you guys for all the words of encouragement and prayers. I am happy to say, "I am pain free!" I still have a little numbness in my left thumb, but I feel wonderful. And the recovery has been just almost pain free. I have a scratchy throat and nice little incision on my neck, but that is about it. The doctor says no restrictions and I can go back to work on Tuesday if I want!

My friend, Johanna, has been a blessing and is the perfect nurse. You may have known her dad as Dr. Elgin Kintner from Blount Memorial. He was the pathologist there forever and has a wing named after him at the hospital. He passed away this May and we miss him greatly.

As far as Kenneth, he is a dream come true! Please don't give him too much grief about his nickname! I did that on a dare and he never turns down a challenge! He is simply a wonderful man!

God Bless you All - My Everett Buddies!

Sandy,
Oh girl, I'm so happy you're feeling so much better! When doctors do those kind of surgeries, you never know what will happen. This is truly a blessing! I know you feel better, but don't overdo ok? Don't go messing with the "boy toy" too much! Just kidding!

Well, we have 3 points. That's better than last week, huh? Later.......

Love you guys!

Jane

Jane, you are quite the optimist here!

09/27/08 06:56 PM #376

Susan Jane Loftis (Gracia)

Hey Kathy, I try to be optimistic, but it's hard.

Well, we didn't win but we were very close! You have to give them credit. They tried a little harder this week. I think it helped to have good ole Peyton there to root them on, don't you guys? Too bad he can't be there every week! HA!

Let's get together soon, ok?

Jane

Diane Welch (Welch)

good morning

Update on little lydia and Shanna. This morning Lydia is off the oxygen hood and the they are going to try and feed her a little later and see how she does. You would never know Shanna had a baby, she is doing awesome but wants so bad to hold little Lydia. Lydia's dad Rick is doing great with both Lydia and Shanna. Will send you pictures when I can figure all of that out. Keep us in your prayers and thoughts Diane

Diane,
This is wonderful news! I'll keep Lydia and her baby, and husband in my prayers including you. I'll keep watching for the updates and pictures.

Diane, thanks for taking time out to fill us in. Isn't it great that Lydia is off the oxygen hood? One of the best medicines will be when Shanna gets to hold her. Back in Feb. my great nephew went into NICU for a few days due to inhalation of amniotic fluid. It was scary. Now, you would never have known Drew was so ill. He's huge and smart and scooting after big brother, Ayden who is 2 1/2.
Remember to take care of yourself so you will be more help to Shanna.

Update on Lydia

She is a fiesty little one. She keeps pulling out her IV and they put one in her head, well she pulled that one out too. They had to let her rest and finally got one back in hand yesterday. She is a little jaundiced but they have treated that and hope she will start taking more by mouth. She did take 28 mls last night from a bottle. Still doesn't know what to do with the breast yet (you can tell she is not a boy, lol). She can't come home until she masters the feeding....Keep your fingers crossed once they finish her treatment for the bilirubin she will become more alert and want to eat. I am doing fine, tired but I am sure it will get worse once she comes home from the hospital. Shanna is a trooper...
Will send pictures as soon as I can figure all of that out. Shanna will have to help me from her computer, I only have my work computer here and they might frown on that. Love to you all
