Diane - make sure that bear doesn't scare away my little racoon friend! Maybe you could feed HIM biscuit crumbs through the cracks of the deck?? Susan!!! Girl, happy belated birthday!!!! I'm also glad you are older than me...hee hee. When is the hike? Ya'll do know that I'm over 50, right?

hey, i'm here, i'm alive! just haven't checked the ole EHS site in a couple of weeks. had my first Craft Fair of the season yesterday. economy really has stopped people from buying "extra" items. guess everyone will get jewelry and bookmarks for birthdays and Christmas this year. think i can sell the dog items on ebay or Etsy.
Kay, you are my hero moving all those beautiful plants and trees. Charlie has a front end loader i could of loaned you. it sets right behind our house. LOVELY !!!
one of the perks of living in the country.
you guys seem to have too much fun when you go out to eat. lots of laughter. does anyone have to wear Depends now that we are older. lol
God bless Sandy Kaye. she is finally coming home. glad to hear Bobby is still alive. he was way too quiet for way too long. Susan, glad your Steve is home. love to all.

Debbie the hike is whenever we can get it together, probably be as easy as planning to go to dinner.

Sandy speaking for myself, not in Depends yet, just hold the liquid intake to a minimum before and during those get togethers. lol

Diane, I am ready for that hike, but you guys will run off and leave me, because I haven't been hiking for ages. Cindy, get your boots ready.
Later Kay

Kay, I don't plan to be in any hurry myself. I have not been hiking in several years. I have to get started again. I am backpacking next fall or spring, and have to get in good enough shape to carry a pack again!

When I say hike I mean walk at a nice leisurely pace. I don't do rough terrains or any bushwacking hikes. Cucumber gap is my idea of the perfect hike.........old logging road (I think)the trail that leads to Cumcumber Gap, it runs by the river, beautiful wildflowers, the second leg of the hike is a little harder but I would say all in all it is easy. Remember I am the same age as all of you. I have had knee surgery in the past, have had a neuroma removed from my foot and then shots put in my foot and have problems with my right hip joint. So I'm not in the best shape to strenuous hikes. Everyone repeat after me "As we age!"

03/25/09 04:04 PM #694

Kay Cooper (Carpenter)

No bushwacking for me either, but I would love to be in shape for a good off trail. Cucumber Gap has an old trail leading off of it. Long Arm I think was the name. It has been off the maps for at least thirty years. What I wouldn't give to be able to do that one.
Kathy good luck with that backpacking. I couldn't do that anymore either. You go, and then come back and tell us about it, and maybe post a picture or two. That will be good enough for me.
Diane, the flowers are blooming now.
Kay

Kay I know but it will be at least the end of the month before I could go....

Sandy Smith (Dockery)

oh man, i have to get to walking so you guys don't run off and leave me. i haven't had hiking boots in 30 years. how about good tennis shoes? tell me again how long this trail is and whats the grade/terrain like.

i know we can all meet at Hardees for a greasy good breakfast then walk a little and stop for coffee that i will bring in a thermos. then every time we see wildflowers we can have a photo op and look it up in my pkt. wildflower book. then a little while later our blood sugar should be dipping so someone should bring some cookies. by the time we get to our destination it will be time for lunch. LOL

Diane, i'm with you on leisurely pace. i've have ankle and spine broken and have 90 extra lbs. from this lovely prednizone. you guys may have to pick me up (literally)on the way back.

seriously, i am interested in doing this if i think i can make it.

What a lovely day! 5am, pouring rain, and off to work. Sure could have used about 7 extra hours in bed. Have a great/blessed day to all!

03/26/09 03:02 PM #698

Diane Welch (Welch)

Sandy it is rated as easy, and it is. The first part is as flat, however if we do the second half we might want to carb it up before we go. Cookies do sound good but like Kay said we don't want to attract the wildlife, at least the not so friendly ones Debbie Ashe has a special attraction to and from raccoons. We will plan it we will go.

Debbie Pickel (Harper)

Hey now...don't talk about my litle racoon. He & I go way back! And this hike thing? Can I just bring a scooter (you know, those little sit down scooters...) & I will "hike" right along with ya'll!

03/29/09 11:33 AM #701

Susan DeLozier

lol, that is too funny.....but file it away in your mind for later years when we are in the "Assisted Living" so we can do that too! I love it....what next?

03/30/09 12:27 AM #703

Sandy Smith (Dockery)

our class of 73 might be smoking funny little cigarettes while they are on their hoveround. lol

03/31/09 06:32 PM #704

Susan DeLozier

Yes, we can eat there sometime, when can everyone? And hmmmm those cigs.....think they will still have them then? How much fun we all will have!!!! And Thank You all, yes I did have a wonderful birthday. My niece turned 16 on March 2, and was available to drive around her Aunt and Uncle not only on her Aunt's Bd (March 20), then also for her Uncles' birthday (March 28). Nice....I now have a DD! And my husband is not in Iraq, he is home and working for the same company, doing the same job, but has an office in Oak Ridge and works from part of the time....!!!!! Yeah!!!

Been a while since I check the site...just working way too much! That in addition to having a wonderful time with my 9 mo old grandson--he's way too cute & just loves his GG

Reading about all your outside landscaping escapades makes my bones & joints hurt---I need more motrin! I attempted to mow last Sat, but nearly got blown away..there were high winds, hail & rain--kept looking for the tornado, but luckily didn't come to my house
