I can probably scare up a bunch of ne'er-do-well musicians to do the 40th. Right now I'm doing mostly country stuff with a band, but over the years I think I've played most genres for better or worse.

Hey Susan, I'm in for the old fart poker game too!! We will have to look Traci & Kathy up to play the game with us! Bobby, can you do paint & body work on wheelchairs?? I sure hope so...would love to have some lightning bolts painted down the side & the # 24 on the back!! Danny, I'm in for some karaoke!

Hey guys maybe we could get one of those karaoke machines so we can hear Debbie P. sing and Danny play. It would be alot of fun. It's almost that time. Everybody be ready to have a good time.

I was just reading all the responses, and I have to say I am a bit concerned. You are talking about sagging body parts, wheelchairs with flames, oxygen tanks and feeding tubes in 2043! I don't think I will be able to attend the reunion after all this year! I don't think I can get my wheelchair with all the apparatus through the door at Sullivans. Not to mention my present sagging body parts and huge oxygen tank I cart around now! Hey, what can I say, life must have been harder on me!!!!!!!! Also, do you think we could not have 2043 at Shoneys! I was hoping we could buy and resurrect the old A&W - I used to love those frosted mugs and wormy looking french fries. And they could just load us up on the old folks bus and we could do a drive in and then cruise by and throw our trash out over the Maryville High School fence. That would be just enough excitement for us old folks.

Debbie Pickel (Harper)

I'm all about that Maryville High fence thing Sandy....I'll be right there with you! :-) I like the A&W idea too!! Cindy Taylor & I use to think we were 'cool' because when pulling out on the road when leaving A&W, the one driving would hold their foot on the brake & the the other foot on the gas as hard as we could..we would peel out of there so loud! I often wondered why my parents had to replace the tires all the time!

Love the trash over Maryville Highs fence BUT folks remember where you're from.
It's not Maryville--it's MURVEL. Any band members out there remember the little chant we would yell out open bus windows as we passed MURVEL High?

Bobby, don't cancel the flowers....I love flowers...Yes, A&W is a must....I think that Connie Newman may still have custody of the A&W sign in her basement....Yes, 2043 should be at A&W!!!!Love it! Trash at Murville - love it too...And beer cans in the ditch at Everett. Marilyn Miller, Debbie Blair & I cleaned out the fence row one FHA Regional Meeting and put them on a teacher's desk (who had told all of us EHS that NO CANNED DRINKS WERE ALLOWED on campus) - Well the other schools brought in coke cans...so, we got the idea to clean out the fence row of the guys beer cans....and peeling out of A&W - remember when everyone in the car would slump down cept one person in the back seat and they would tell the others how to stear and when to gas and break??? What fun...miss those days....

Gary Marshall

Well, bless your hearts (that phrase can be interpreted in a number of ways). Reading your names and messages has brightened a 3rd full day of rain & wind from TS Fay.
Cindy & I really regret we can't make the 35th reunion, but now we have even more to look forward to in the many years to come. I vote for A&W. I don't do karaoke, and Traci, I may never eat a dessert again.

08/22/08 12:25 PM #44

Mike Thomas

I vote for A&W too. Was anybody bold enough to steal A mug from there. I admit I did. In fact I still have them.Gary, I hate to hear your not able to come, but I will always the paper drive the Key Club used to have. I hope you remember me from those days. I will email you later on. I remember driving around Maryville the morning before the game. I got called to Mr. Davis office .was told I was going to be expelled for egging the place, but he never did. Gosh I miss the good old days.

Kathy Phillips (McBride)

Yeah, Mr. Davis was pretty cupcake wasn't he. Debbie Newcomb and I snuck out to Hardees one day for lunch, and got caught on the stairs in the Science Building coming back in. We'd have made it, except for the Hardees cups in our hands! He just asked us if we didn't like the food in the cafeteria and told us to get to class.

And then there was the day Mrs. Morton got a flash of my belly button because my jean's waistband was a little lower than the end of my shirt...

08/22/08 03:55 PM #46

Debbie Pickel (Harper)

I guess I have to fess up now....yep, I do have an A&W Mug! And I think Kathy Phillips was with me when I kept it! :-) What would we do without the good ole A&W memories? I remember being 15 & couldn't drive without an adult present....I wanted to go to A&W so bad but didn't want anyone to see me with my mom....so me & (not sure who...maybe Kathy?) were of course in the front seat, and my mom was lying down in the back seat. We parked in a stall & flirted with boys...the entire time while my mom was laying down reading a book in the back seat! I had a cool mom! (wish I still had her)... oh, and remember Mr. Williams?? Well, I fell asleep in class one day, and my desk was in the back of the room near the windows. He actually TIED my long hair to the blinds and then slammed his hand on my desk. I woke up with a start, and when I jerked my head...all of the blinds came tumbling down! Okay, whoever saw that can stop laughing now! Great memories!!

08/23/08 12:08 PM #49

Traci Lobetti (McGill)

Dang people we need to really make up our minds where the next reunion will be cause I have already started growing the strawberries so they will have plenty of mold on them when I make you all a wonderful Shoney Strawberry Pie. I guess I could come up with some A&W root beer floats. So which one will it be?

08/23/08 04:12 PM #50

I hope it never ends. We need to keep in touch with each other. Even if it's a email or phone call. This whole forum has be a true blessing I just wish we could have more people take part.

Debbie Pickel (Harper)

I say we go ahead & plan another 'get together' every year....doesn't cost much, and all we have to do is show up!! Traci....I was thinking. We could actually have our next one at an A&W and you could bring all of the srawberry pies! But, now that mold thing, I'm not sure about....we might have to have Bobby on standby to call 911 & Mike to have Lifestar ready. I'm really excited about that extra foam on my fast wheelchair!!!
One thing we could do is plan a very informal get together to watch an "away" UT game somewhere this fall??

08/25/08 05:08 PM #54

Kathy Phillips (McBride)

Sounds like a good plan to me Debbie. Somebody can teach me about football.

Linda Braden (Albert)

Hello, everybody! I have gotten a kick reading all the messages so decided I'd jump in, too. I was really pleased to see Gary Marshall on here - hello, big brother!
Oh, no, I've got the exclamation point compulsion! I feel like I've been writing a letter to Debbie Long to sneak to her under the eagle-eyes of Mrs., er, well, I forget her name, at least for the moment. Science teacher, freshman year. It sucks to get old, huh.
Bobby, you're going to outshine all the women. As for me, my gray hair will be perfectly acceptable although one of our friends, a person I see at work every day, covered her gray over last week in preparation for the reunion. If you want to know who, you'll have to read all the profiles. See, I'm getting mean and sneaky in my old age, too.
Gotta run. Y'all be good. See you in the funny paper.
