Until recently I had never thought about even going back to my old school. Even though I came back to the Pittsburgh area to work on three major films. Since Vietnam I've immersed myself in family and work. Besides the film work I've been involved with the comic book industry, Marvel, D.C.,Vertigo, Chaos and a lot of independants in both character creation and development. Not to bad a life for someone who graduated near the bottom of his class. I'm not proud of that fact but I want tosay I made it in spite of myself. It took the war, then a family followed by my limited mobility to make me realize that time I "skated" over was more important than I realized. There at school I learned to believe in myself and others around me. There I picked up a sense of adventure and a need to be challanged. I wonder if any of the fathers are still around or can be reached for there was a group of them who left the robes and hoods at school and began to play roller hockey at the original Eden Park Rollr Rink on old RT48. I remember them going there and having to learn to skate on wheels rather than ice. But they learned quickly and unknown to the students at school the fathers began playing in a league. Sometimes I was playing against them on others I was a ref, did you know our beloved fathers were the most penalized team in the league. I can say it was just a difference in styles. Roller hockey played no contact the fathers played pro ice hockey thus the penalties. I can say I lost one tooth from a right cross done by Father Paulinus "little paul" when he didn't like a call I made against him. Next day he made life misreable for me in Latin class to get even for me throwing him out of the game. There are other stories but those can come a a later time.
