Hi Eric and everyone else. This is so cool, Eric. A very big THANK YOU to you an your wife, Patti. I'm sorry I haven't responded earlier. I haven't stayed in touch with anyone from high school other than my childhood buddy, Janet. We were in play pens together! It has been very fun to read the profiles and this forum and to "catch up". Steven's entries particularly have tickled me as I also went to Media Elementary. I remember I had a crush on you, Steven, in 5th and 6th grade and Janet and I, and sometimes her sister Anne, would walk by your house and shout your name! I remember I wasn't very "cool" then and Tommy Hatton told me if I wore different shoes more kids would like me. I had to wear these awful corrective saddle shoes for two years! Needless to say, I began sneaking my Sunday shoes to school to change into! I forgave Tommy a long time ago, by the way!!!:)
I'm not sure yet if I'll make it to the reunion, however am working on it. We're headed to MIchigan for Christmas but may swing by PA. Just reading everyone's profiles has made me want to come. Many of my fondest memories are from elementary and middle school as I was somewhat of a "social drop out" in high school.
Again, thanks so much for this. I have a big smile on my face as I write this and send my very best to all.
Dottie

Hello everyone,

I have the 2006 Alumni Directory. Not everyone is in it; however, there is a lot of information. Graduation years range from 1959 through 2005 for Penncrest in the directory. I have been able to help out a couple of my classmates find a few of their old friends. If any of you would like me to look up an old friend I would be glad to give it a try. Just send me a message.

To Judy,

The store was called Jordan's and we spent plenty of time in there also. It's still there, but not sure if it's open for business, that place was old when we went in there (Mrs. Jordan seemed like 100 years old then!) and ran it with her son Michael, but the Newspot is gone, I think.

Yes you did.

To Dottie,

Hey, how are you! I was scared of the ladies back then...
Glad you are doing OK. I don't remember the shoes but I do remember you hung out with Janet P. and also Tommy Hatton, now he was a ladies man!, didn't he live by/date Janice Hatch?

My sister Connie ('72) was good friends with Anne P. at one time, not sure if she still keeps in touch with her.

Take care. Maybe I will see you at the reunion.

My dad said my mom never threw anything out, but he can't find any MES class pictures. Again, if anyone has any, please scan them in and post them in your profile or provide for the webmaster (Patti Murray Brown).

Well, Deb Cordero, you get the absolute prize for looking absolutely spectacular! Your picture makes the rest of us scared to come out of the shadows! You certainly don't look 53. If there were a prize to be given now, you'd get it!

Just a thought, to all. Did all the Jocks stay "Jocks"? (sports/babes/muscles)

Did all the Greasers stay "Greasers"? (Didn't give a hoot about what people thought. Lived your life. Had fun/leather jackets/greasy hair/fixing cars)

Did all the freaks stay "Freaks"? (long hair/drugs/soft rock/hard rock/love/love/love)

Did all the nerds stay nerds?Doctors/Lawyers/Chemist/Astrophysics/Presidents/CEO's)

Just how did it all turn out. Funny how, it was so important back then...what people thought..how we acted....how we 'fit in'. Funny how we found out, it never really mattered. If only we could bottle it and teach our children and grandchildren....be yourself. Who gives a 'hoot'. (aka damn!)

Hey Eric... thought I saw Tom Schuchardt listed on the profile page when I first checked out the site... just heard from Phil Cole that he's not there, and sure enough he isn't... any idea why?

Janet, that's a fun ?. I do still love my music but my Mom still does too, she was a dancer. I try not to take life too seriously, I think that's still the same but I love and appreciate all kinds of people, it does take all kinds. Did anyon, Steve or Jack get my messages about my Dad whom I'm so proud of? Debbie Hampton

Does anyone remember Robert Stephenson AKA Pierre? I know Susan Platt would. He passed away of substance abuse, I'm sorry to say. Someone else with a bright future, lost. It happened to too many. Debbie Hampton

Hi everyone! I sent out quite a few messages but didn't post a "Subject" and now I'm thinking that no one received them. Can you tell I'm a real techno wizard? I love reading the messages and updated profiles and once again want to thank everyone who is invovled with this web-site. Hope to see many of you at the reunion!Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hello to all!
What a great thing this web site has come to be.
Just returned from a mini PHS '73 reunion with Arlene Butler, Leeann Spangler, Patty Flairty last weekend. We stayed at Lucy's home in Media.
We used to call ourselves the MAGS (Mt Alverno Girls), since we all lived off the loop...
The weekend was fun, fun, fun...staying in our pajamas , sitting around recapping recent events and sharing memories of old. Started laughing (and screaming) at the airport and didn't stop until the last of us departed. Good times.

Lucy, Leeann and Arlene will represent us at the real deal on 12/27.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Robin

Uh, OK, somebody help me out here, I always thought Linda and Susan Byerly were sisters/twins so how is one born on 12/23 and the other on 12/26 of the same year? Was one born naturally but they had to C-section 3 days later for the other one, or what?

I'm sure I'll slap my forehead and go Duh!, once the answer is explained...

I received a few emails I'd like to share. I'm sure they won't mind.

From Francesca aka Mary Frances Wright:
Eric, I won't be making it back to PA but thank you for pulling the site together. I was dismayed to learn of so many classmates that have passed on and delighted to have the opportunity to reconnect with others. The website is a service to us all!

From Tom & Cheryl (Turner) Hamilton:
Eric, My wife and I wanted so much to be there. It's been too long. Christmas is a time that generates many travel conflicts. All of my "brood" is going to be traveling to Kansas to be with us over the holiday. We couldn't pass up the opportunity to be here, soooooooo, the Kansas representatives of the PHS 1973 class will not be in attendance. Give my regards to all.

From Gary Ladd:
Hi Eric, Needless to say, I would love to be at the reunion, but the Holiday timing just doesn't work for me! that said, thought I would do what I could to try to help make the event a success.

Thanks for pioneering the Penncrest '73 site -- has made reconnecting with old friends so much easier.

All our best to you and your family for the Holidays!

[Many thanks to Gary from the Reunion Committee for his generous donation to the class reunion fund!!! WOW!]

A new feature has been added to our class web site:

Classmates can now post comments under your personal Profile. I think this will be a lot of fun, and will encourage more communication on our web site.

This new feature is now live on the site but is turned off by default. If you would like to allow other Classmates to post comments under your Profile, please do the following:

1) Log into the site and click on Edit Profile.
2) Place a check mark in the box next to the new "Classmate Comments" feature.
3) Save your Profile.

That's it -- you'll now have your own personal discussion area on your Profile page. Have fun!

I talked Ted Kogut's brother and told him to tell Ted about the reunion. He didnt think he knew about it so he is going to pass it along to him.

I noticed that there seems to be so few comments in each of the "In Memory" sections and I wonder if there are so few people that remember those classmates of ours that have passed away. They couldn't have gone that unnoticed during our four years in high school. It just seems a little sad to me.

12/04/08 10:42 PM #73

Debra Schmidt (De Masi)

Maybe there haven't been a lot of posts to the "In Memory" forum because we're a bit taken back to see the names of former classmates posted. Some of these people were those we laughed and cried with. It makes us realize our own mortality, and causes a lot of introspection. Besides, the comments that have been posted in several circumstances speak for a significant number of us.
As remaining members of the PHS class of 1973, at least this class member, the time spent with family and friends at this time of year will be a little more precious . . .

Hope to see many of you at the reunion.

Happy Holidays.

Debbie

Hi everyone,
Like everyone else I'm thrilled with how Patti and the and the rest of the reunion team have put together this fantastic website.
On top of that, I simply can't get over seeing all the pictures of your children, who are older than we all were, back when I remember knowing you!
Perhaps it has something to do with not having had kids myself, or is it an age thing?!

I know I have been a little taken aback by how many of us are grandparents! I certainly don't feel old enough to be a grandparent - how could so many of you have multiple grandkids? I still have a pre-teen, born when I was 40 - and it keeps me young! The downside is that I will be retirement age when he is finishing college.....

I thought that somebody asked about music at the reunion but i dont recall seeing an answer. What is the answer? I talked to Kirk Waters the other day and he will not be able to attend the reunion.

Another email I received I'd like to share. It made me laugh. I hope Philippe Carier doesn't mind, he wrote:

-35 year High School Reunion Dinner: $48
-35 year High School Reunion WEB Site Maintenance Contribution: $10
-Finding out Alfred Little's Occupation really is "Rocket Scientist - Naturally": PRICELESS.

Eric and PHS Reunion Commitee,

Thanks for putting all of this together. The WEB Site has been a lot of fun to browse to see how we have all changed and "matured".

Take care,

Philippe G. Carier
