To All a Hello. This site has been so much fun. I look forward to the banquet and thank all involved in advance. I am quite sure the event will be a hit and the evening will fly by. I have enjoyed the profiles and hope we can keep the site going. Best wishes for a Happy Holiday season to you and your families.

Hello Eric:
I'm trying to pay using "PayPal" but when I got to the third screen there was no PayPal button to click. Please send PayPal ID so I can pay at the web site. Many thanks for setting up this great web site, sure has been fun reading what classmates are up to. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion...Lynn Russell McMurray

Lynn,
I emailed you personally, but I'll post it here, too, in case someone else is wondering how to pay thru Paypal.

It's 3 easy steps:

#1 Go to "35 Year Reunion" page and scroll down to the bottom. Click the box how you intend to pay for your ticket i.e. check or Paypal; then on the right side enter the quantity i.e. one or two. Click on Proceed to Step 2

#2 Review everything is how you want it, then Click Proceed to Step 3 (If your writing/mailing a check, then you are finished. Write and mail the check!)

#3 That's where you will see the Paypal button. Click it, then follow the prompts on Paypal.

Thanks Eric and Patti...got it to work...see you all soon! Lynn

I just noticed that's it's Steven Beebe's birthday today.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVEN!

Steven Beebe

Thanks Eric.

I feel old today, like I've aged 10 years in the last 2. Must have been the switch from the cushy job to a "real" job.

How many were in our graduating class?

12/12/08 07:07 PM #88

Steven Beebe

437 sticks in my mind for some reason...

Hadley Pennock

Steven, good memory if thats true.

Steven Beebe

Hadley, my mind is going actually...

And you can call me Steve, I remember coming to your house down near the old demolished Rose Tree Steak Shop on Providence Rd. to play a few times when I was younger.

Funny story with that, I remember going in there for a cheese steak (What else?) near the end and seeing an older guy and his wife running the place and he was cooking the steak. I was curious and asked why he would get into that now, he responded that he was just holding the place over until his zoning variance was approved to construct an office building. Sure enough, months or years later, there stands for a while now a multi-level office building there with the parking garage underneath as the existing topography was perfect for that. Smart real estate move, must have made a windfall profit...!

On another classmate topic, So, do you all think Steve "Woody" Woodruff is really a Quantum Physicist, or is he just pullin' classmates legs again?

steve,
my brother bob arata /class of 64/ worked at the steak shop in the mid 60's and in the 90's was asked if he wanted to buy the shop.........he turned it down............bill.arata

Bill,

Bad move by your bro but hindsight is 20-20 as they say. Next time you talk to him, ask him if he regrets it...

Steve--

Is 437 right? Because there are 458 names in the classmates profile list. I was thinking that it was originally closer to 500 in the class, but with moves and such the graduating class ended up being less than 500. Just wondering... still that's a lot of baby boomers. I don't think class numbers are that high anymore...

I worked at the hoagie shop for about 9 years.

Barb Schultz Shovlin noted in her school story about some guy jumping on a table during lunch, playing air guitar and singing Elvis's Hound Dog. How many remember Paul Bockno's senior week break-out? My personnal favorite was his rendition of "Don't you step on My Blue Suede Shoes", as he was being led out of the lunchroom by the Vice-Principal.

Hey Joe, us engineers go by the numbers so if there's 458 names on there, 458 it is!!!!

Like I said, not sure why that number (437, maybe the # that got diplomas?) sticks in my head as the Class of '73 student size.

Saw your sister at the Penncrest-Radnor girls basketball game the other night. She was there to support her neighbor's daughter, Grace Ciminera, classmate John's kid. She's only a freshman, but had a big game for the Varsity last night against Strath Haven (formerly Nether Providence, now in the Central League). Our youngest, Charlotte, a sophomore, plays on the team. They have 2 wins in 3 games this year which is 2/3 of their total wins last season.

Debra Schmidt (De Masi)

I can tell you from personal experience, the individual health screening of every student in every class at Penncrest in 2005-6, that class sizes are all well below 400 students. Most classes average between 325-350 individuals.

The school held over 1600 students in 1973. Those numbers have a correlation to the Central league category/status for athletics.

If you've seen Penncrest after the rennovations, the number of classrooms is significantly higher now than in 1973. Would you believe that the faculty and administration are complaining of a lack of space? We were in a smaller building, had over 250 more students in 1973, and things seemed fine.

Attitudes sure have changed.

Yep, that place is like a palace compared to the old days.

Seems like more and more kids are groomed for specialized sports and attend Catholic or other religious archdioses or academies or prep schools now. I've seen a lot of kids who live in the district who have gone to other schools to excel in sports. It always has been and still is about the money. I see kids driving BMWs and Acuras to high school!!! WTF, Our youngest may end up with her Grandmom's used Chevy Metro (if I can get her to drive it...). We had a big family and not a lot of money, the kids just seem more spoiled today, handed more stuff. But I guess every preceding generation thinks that.

In 9th grade we had a class the used to be a storage closet. Good thing we had a small class size. That was a fun class too.

WHAT? NO ROSE TREE STEAK SHOP? Where am I gonna get my "Philly Fix" when I come for the reunion? How about Tiny T's?

12/15/08 09:59 PM #101

Eric Brown

Hey Jeff ,
Bad news, Tiny T's is all new now. No Big Ed slinging out 30 hoagies a minute. Unlike us, not all things improve with time.

Does anyone remember the Red Baron Steak Shop?

I used to go in there and down 2 of their large philly steaks. Talk about good. Thinking about it still makes my mouth water.

Gordon (Jeff) Swineford

I was in Media three summers ago. Pinocchio's Pizza and Apollo Pizza were pretty much the same as they were 35 years ago.

I will not be able to make it to the reunion. I hope you all have a GREAT TIME! I will be thinking about you on the 27th. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!
