Happy Birthday Wendy! What a magnificent beneficial achievement! Not only will this make you treat each moment more preciously, but you will be more patient with yourself and with others, recognizing that there are millions of moments on the path to any worthwhile achievement (Menachem Mendel Schneerson). May your celebration with family and perhaps friends be an elaborate and gratifying event. Henri Nouwen tells us that “The fruits of your labors may be reaped two generations from now. Trust, even when you don't see the results”. As a retiree, parent and grandparent like you, my extended wish is that you’re blessed to see the results from the fruits of your labors. With an attitude of gratitude, Angela, Allison, Alaina, Christopher, Marcell, Alana Symone and Ana will provide gratuitous luxuries for a joyous celebration of sacrifices and achievements accomplished.
Redeeming the time we have during this pandemic allows us to spend more time with our families. This requires discipline and gratitude from everyone. Henri Nouwen also stated; The discipline of gratitude is the explicit effort to acknowledge that all I am and have is given to me as a gift of love, a gift to be celebrated with joy. May you acknowledge the gift of love which allowed you to accomplish yet another milestone. May you have a Bob Baldwin type of birthday. Celebrate your day with joy, getting “Back to Basics”, with Family First…..enjoy your day….stay safe my friend….

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). Domestic violence is a serious violent crime that includes both physical and emotional abuse. It is frequently hidden from public view. Many victims suffer in silence, afraid to seek help or not knowing where to turn. The traumatic effects of domestic violence also extend beyond the abused person, impacting family members and communities. Children often witness the violence or become victims themselves. Stalking is a common and very dangerous tactic used by perpetrators of domestic violence, and can pose challenges for victims seeking help. (Acting Director, Katherine Sullivan-Office on Violence Against Women)
According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the U.S. Domestic violence occurs all year round, but advocates for victims use the month of October to draw attention to the issue and raise awareness. The Centers for Disease Control estimates that 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will be impacted by some form of domestic abuse in their lifetime. The federal Department of Justice estimates rates impacting the LBGTQ community are even higher. (Beth Fitzpatrick, Community Contributor & Grace Kraemer 10/2/2020)
Physical violence, sexual violence, stalking, emotional abuse, psychological aggression and intimidation are all forms of domestic violence. Many victims do not leave relationships out of fear, lack of support, minimum legal resources and economic barriers. Most people are already aware that domestic violence happens. But everyone needs to be aware of their own role in promoting healthy relationships and connecting people to help. That is how we recognize abuse around us and protect our community. You can show your support by wearing purple on Thursday, Oct. 22, placing a purple ribbon on your shirt, and replacing the lights at your home or your business with purple lights. “Life is like dancing. If we have a big floor, many people will dance. Some will get angry when the rhythm changes. But life is changing all the time”.
~Don Miguel Ruiz ~
Happy Birthday Delores! Today, you can dance to whatever rhythm surfaces within your spirit. To quote you from back in the day “Wanted so bad to be a majorette. Mrs. Griffin said to me, girl you have the legs, but you sure can’t dance. Mrs. Griffin must have studied an Opera singer named Maria Callas to reach her opinion. Concerning great teachers, Maria stated “That is the difference between good teachers and great teachers: good teachers make the best of a pupil’s mean; great teachers foresee a pupil’s ends”. We all know that Mrs. Griffin was a great teacher and wanted the best for her pupils. Even though you may still think you can’t dance, when the spirit of celebration hits you, you’ll move. You may not become a guest on “Dancing With The Stars”, but don’t be frustrated. There have been a few stars that couldn’t cut a rug with a pair of scissors in hand.
Don Miguel Ruiz, a renowned spiritual teacher and internationally bestselling author stated “Life is like dancing. If we have a big floor, many people will dance. Some will get angry when the rhythm changes. But life is changing all the time”. Well, the rhythm has changed today, and you have the floor. Only you’re not dancing at the moment, you’re about to utter praises for the accomplishment of this milestone achievement. As Willie and the family rise from their seats to honor you, may you have the type of celebration expressed by Opera icon Andrea Bocelli. May you be blessed to state the words; “On this day in which we celebrate the trust in a life that triumphs, I’m honored and happy to say I’m thankful”. You’ve triumphed on your journey through life, while arriving at this milestone. Life is a wonderful beautiful journey. Every episode of my life is like a dream, and I am at peace and happy with what life has given me (Laura Harring). At the conclusion of your celebrations, may you reflect upon the peace and happiness that this life has given you. May your beautiful journey continue to add wonderful episodes and triumphs. Although the end of the Summer Rain has arrived, I wish you a Jeanette Harris kind of day ahead… here’s some music to march by as a self appointed majorette….privately….May you “Just Keep Holding On” during this pandemic and stay safe my friend…..enjoy your day….
I have four things to be concerned about: prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer,
melanoma and breast cancer. The rest of my life I have to be very much aware
and conscious and do all of the early detection.
~ Mathew Knowles ~
The American Cancer Society estimates for breast cancer in men in the United States for 2020 are:
About 2,620 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed
About 520 men will die from breast cancer
Breast cancer is about 100 times less common among white men than among white women. It is about 70 times less common among Black men than Black women . As in Black women, Black men with breast cancer tend to have a worse prognosis (outlook). For men, the lifetime risk of getting breast cancer is about 1 in 833 .
Signs and symptoms of breast cancer in men include
lump or swelling that may be painless
skin dimpling or puckering
nipple retraction
red or scaling nipple or breast skin
nipple discharge (Knowles first realized something was wrong when he had bleeding from his nipple).
Invasive ductal carcinoma is the most common form of breast cancer in men.
Men diagnosed with breast cancer should receiving genetic testing to see if they have the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene. Just as in women who test positive these genes, the mutation can be passed to the children of men who test positive.
Treatment for breast cancer in men is similar to that for women and may include mastectomy, radiation, and chemotherapy.
Nurses and other healthcare providers can include questions about breast health in their assessments of male patients. Making it a routine part of healthcare conversation may help reduce any stigma or embarrassment men feel.
Hey Classmates. I want to join James Stone and Kenneth to wish all of the classmates born in October Happy Birthday. I listened to Jay Walking and it reminded me of sitting on the grass in Overton Park wearing my fro' a halter top, bell bottoms and platforms. Good times. There is beauty in the recall of old times. Happy Birthday Warrior sisters and brothers.
Happy Birthday Beverly. I was so looking forward to seeing you for our reunion. I hope you day is filled with love, fun, and gifts. You desreve it all.
The sun does not shine for a few trees and flowers,
but for the wide world's joy.

Good morning Everyone! I'm having a few technical problems with my system this morning. I can copy and paste clipart, but I get an error message which states 'Image source URL missing' when I try to add images. Must be Gremlins. I'm working on it.........
"Everything in the universe has a purpose. Indeed, the invisible intelligence that flows through everything in a purposeful fashion is also flowing through you. In times of need, God can come to you in a myriad of disguises."
~ Wayne Dyer~
Happy Birthday Beverly!Congratulations and welcome to the official group of individuals who are one year away from being considered elderly. According to news outlets like NPR, the New York Times and Philadelphia Metro, someone between the ages of 69 and 71 is considered elderly. On the other hand, depending on whom you ask, it appears the official definition is "anyone who qualifies for Social Security and Medicare." We've been blessed regardless, due to unconditional love. Wayne Dyer stated "There is no greater power in Heaven or on Earth than pure, unconditional love. The nature of the God force, the unseen intelligence in all things, which causes the material world and is the center of both the spiritual and physical plane, is best described as pure, unconditional love." Ten years ago, you were reminded by our dear friend Bonnie Pippin, that you and Eric had been together for forty years. You acknowledged that it was a blessing, and joked about having stories to tell. I think that Wayne would describe those stories as unconditional love. May your birthday celebration with Eric and other family members be preoccupied with unconditional love, spiritual blessings and chic gifts.
As we endure the prescribed guidance for dealing with the global pandemic, may you and family be continuously blessed to overcome it's violent overtures. May we all be mindful that "Everything in the universe has a purpose. Indeed, the invisible intelligence that flows through everything in a purposeful fashion is also flowing through you. In times of need, God can come to you in a myriad of disguises." ( Wayne Dyer) Concluding your hours of celebration, I wish you a Nicholas Cole type of evening. May you be able to proclaim to Eric, "Between Us", unconditional love and "Endless Possibilities" remain and that There is no greater power in Heaven or on Earth than pure, unconditional love. Enjoy your day...stay safe my friend...
Happy Birthday Wanda! Congratulations upon receiving the blessings of "keeping your wings level and true". You may recall, that's a lyric from our Air Force song. With this achievement, you've earned another lonjevity medal to display proudly, on your current uniform. Like you, I proudly wore the uniform of the U S Air Force and combined it with the uniform of a Civil Servant, prior to total retirement. Thank you for your service toward both. Robert Baden-Powell was a British Army officer, writer, founder and first Chief Scout of the world-wide Scout Movement.
He stated, "The uniform makes for brotherhood, since when universally adopted, it covers up all differences of class and country. My belief is that we were put into this world of wonders and beauty with a special ability to appreciate them, in some cases to have the fun of taking a hand in developing them, and also in being able to help other people instead of overreaching them and, through it all, to enjoy life - that is, to be happy." May your day of celebration radiate and reflect the energy expended during your career, of wonders and beauty, while serving on active duty. May the special abilities and appreciation you extended toward developing and assisting other Airman, wage grade or general service co-workers as a civilian, be reflected in the gifts received. In other words, through it all, may you continue to enjoy life, retirement life and to be happy.
As often as we participated in chemical warfare exercises, I know that wearing a mask during this pandemic is not too much of a problem for you. However, relief is on the way. I wish you a Tim Bowman type of evening, at the conclusion of your celebration. Wild Blue Yonder is the Air Force song, therefore a flight "Into The Blue" would bring a much deserved reprieve. Enjoy a trip down the "Travelin' Road" to get away from it all....stay safe my friend....enjoy your day...
