Warrior Nation !

Today's a new day, void of the sad news of the previous post. Jackie asked that we post news for the year of 2018. Well, I choose to HONOR her request, and ask those of you who are likeminded to represent also. Here's an image to go along with the news from the Mid-South Food Bank. Did you all see Estella sporting an Afro, on WMCActionNews5.com, or was I the only one? Do any of you recognize the folks in this image? Send a shout out to those that you know......More news to follow.....

Hello Patricia,

Your memory remains sharp.....I know that the faces are familiar, just the names escape you for the moment. I'll be posting another image soon. Maybe by then, names will magically appear from the archives.....More news to follow...

WAKANDA AND WARRIORS FOREVER

Saturday afternoon greetings to each of you. If you've logged on and viewed the website recently, you've noticed a variety of ads. The ghosts behind these are based upon the need to make an additional payment to Classcreator. The last payment made was at the conclusion of our last Class Reunion. During the Sunday brunch, individuals voluntarily made contributions to sustain the site until the present. We do not have an official Alumni Committee presently. However, there is an active core group of individuals, who have been attempting to keep our Alumni active. Cherlyn Connor, Helen Shaw, Marsha Sherrod, Claudia Shields, Joycelyn Sommerville, Patricia Watson, Jackie Casey, Lillian Marshall, William Arnold, Willie Taylor and Larry Milligan compose the core group. Everyone is welcome to participate. The Website Administrators are Cherlyn, Larry and myself. In the past, dues were collected as seed funding to off-set costs of administrative activities.

We are attempting to have the website reinstated to it's former glory. Should you be encouraged to participate, please send a donation to Cherlyn Connor. She has volunteered to receive all donations, which may be mailed to 2425 Oak Springs Cove, Cordova, TN 38106. Other arrangements for those of you residing locally may be completed by phoning her at (901) 413 - 6130. As promised prior, here's another Blast from the Past....enjoy...WARRIORS & WAKANDA FOREVER....

Maurice Hunt! Did I get one right?

03/13/18 08:56 PM #1924

Kenneth Davis

Hello Patricia!

It appears as though it's just going to be you and I. Oprah once said: "Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down". Jackie asked that we start 2018 fresh with new posts. The limo website has broken down and we need others to ride the bus with us. We're in the process of repairing the limo and I know that we can.....Sorry to say, I can't confirm beyond the shadow of doubt that I see Maurice Hunt in the 10-1 classroom. I do see Almedia Shackleford, Bobbie Nelson and Tilton Fossett, to mention a few. Maybe some of the other class mates riding on the bus with us will identify the others.

As a website administrator, I  also need help getting the word out to classmates who have what's called a "Bounceback" notification from the website. It has to do with their email address and what's known as a "Daemon Software Application" which supports our class website. If you have the ability to reach out to  the following list of classmates, please contact them and ask them to follow these directions, should they choose:

  1. Contact the classmate at a different email address or by phone. Inform the classmate that his or her email address is bouncing.
  2. When the classmate logs into the web site a copy of the bounce notice is displayed.
  3. Classmate has the opportunity to enter an updated email address. If current email address is valid classmate may opt to keep current email address.
  4. Classmate must click the link provided to send a verification email (this is to be sure email is actually getting through now).
  5. Classmate must receive the verification email and click the link inside. The bounce problem is now solved and classmate can receive emails from the site again.

The classmates are; Marilyn Burton Wright, Vera Brown Jackson, Otis Clayton, Delores Boothe Armstrong,Robert Bowie, Jr., Alice Rodgers Blackburn, Donald Mattax-Loyd, Lillie Anderson Caldwell, James Clower,Gwendolyn Johnson Thomas, Elizabeth Marzette Pace, Alice Holman Nesbitt, Talut El-Amin, Margie McRae Reed and Velma Tate Gillespie. Please help our class to board the LIMO once again....in the meantime; " Remember that a gesture of friendship, no matter how small, is always appreciated ". H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Hello My Beloved !

Thank you Helen and Patricia for purchasing a bus ticket ! ! !  We all need to continue this excursion to "Warriors & Wankanda Forever". Patricia, I suggested to you that the names would appear from the archives. There's nothing negative about our memory or faces that we recognize, we're just challenged to name names, yearbook or not. I would hope that others members will eventually respond and give a name to the anonymous, yet to be identified. Fantastic recollections Helen! Patricia, you were right. Maurice Hunt does appear in the 10-2 Classroom Image, but the young lady to his far left (our right) requires a "21 Gun Salute" for her attempts to resurrect our Alumni to active status. Tell me if I'm wrong, but I believe her name is Vickie Marshall......Thank you Vickie for the gatherings in your home and for totally expressing our motto "First of the Seventies, to Suceed is our Goal".

Next, I'd like to wish a "Happy Birthday" to the gentleman seated almost center, but forth from your right in the image below. Some of you may actually remember his name, without research. Holla at our "FRIEND" should you get the opportunity, and remind him to update his email address on the website.

Besides Wanda, TJ, and Rat, who's those other folks? Hint, one of them is a close friend of Larry Milligan....Marilyn Sanders, we need to talk......

Cherlyn, the check is in the mail....who's next?

Hello out there is Warrior land (Wakanda)!

I am really enjoying seeing the old school pictures!  I know I was in the 10th grade once...don't remember who was my homeroom teacher...don't remember what I even looked like then!  (blush)  I thought I was in the ALPHA ELITE...is that me in the middle next to Brenda Smith?

I am not totally drawing blanks though because I do recognize Claudia Grant, Jacqueline Franklin, and Frederica Jones.

Since we are out here talking...

I saw on FaceBook where there was some discussion about a REUNION!  We need to do something...BUT WHAT!  Is A REUNION something that we want to do!  If it is a reunion of some kind, what do you think it should be?  Your thoughts are so needed.

You know that we do not have any formal structure for our class but there have been several of us that meet monthly...that discuss how we can get more of the class engaged so that we can put our heads together and get something done!  We need more help!  When we get together...we always have a great time!

We are in the process of pooling our pennies so that we can get the Web-site renewed and get rid of all of the advertisements and give us more flexibility to use the site to its full potential!  Your help will be appreciated!  I am the unofficial Treasurer so you can send me your contribution if you choose to help.  Although Kenneth has put it in an earlier post, I am including below so that you have it again!  I did open a checking account under the name of BTW Warriors 1970 so you can make your checks payable to me or to BTW Warriors 1970.

Cherlyn Conner, 2425 Oak Springs Cv., Cordova, TN  38016.  My cell # is 901-413-6130.

What are your thoughts?

Greetings To My Warrior Family !

In every conceivable manner, the family is link to our past, bridge to our future. Alex Haley

Thanks to everyone who chooses to continue our conversations....I can recall the closing remarks that our beloved Mrs. Nichols presented during a previous Class Reunion. She stated that "We are a Proud Warrior Nation" there's nothing that we can't accomplish"! Some of the "Proud Warrior Family" remains among us, so I challenge you all to join in the conversations. There is no specific category or subject for discussion....

Back in the day there was a chant presented by the following group of individuals (Mickey, you're in here, not the Alpha Elites...wink..). The chant, in the form of a statement and question, was both challenging and inspirational. When the challenge ended, everyone was victorious, simply because we're all "WARRIORS", not one greater than the other. The chant begins; "This is section number one, this is section number one, where in the world is number two, where in the world is number two"?   Shout it out Mickey and John T....

A response was provided by the gentleman on the rar right, indicating that he's sitting in section number two. Doe's anyone know the folks in his section? What an energetic reply to the challenge. He's now asking, "Where in the world is number three"?????

Looking forward to more conversations with my WARRIOR FAMILY........
