Dear All,
Judy Phillips Ready passed away on August 26, 2024 in Tupelo MS. You can read her obituary on the Holland Funeral Home website.
For those of you who are on the fence about attending this year's reunion, please consider that this is
likely the final formal gathering of our class. Please come so we can celebrate each other and those who have gone before us.
Looking forward to seeing y'all . . . 1964 South Side Scrappers.
Carol

60th reunion in the planning states, Please let us know if you would like to attend and what type of event you would like.
6oth reunion -
60th Reunion!!
YES, THE ’64 SOUTH More…
Our committee has been discussing and we have come up with the following ideas for our 60th. However, nothing is final and we want your input as to what you like and don’t like about our ideas. We are sending this message to all addresses that we have from last reunion and we are posting it on all websites, Facebook pages, etc. that we know of. We need you to send to your friends and post it anywhere that you think we can connect with South Side grads. Then send your thoughts—like it or don’t like it—and don’t be bashful. This is your reunion and we would like you to come and want to make sure you enjoy it. Send to RonCartwright64@gmail.com and I will distribute to committee members.
Our thoughts:
Mid September date after Memphis has cooled a little. Your thoughts?
Mid Week date for events as it will be much better availability and more economical to book sites on Tue thru Thursday.
First night would be casual night and invitations will be extended to ALL CLASSES that we went to school with above and below us—perhaps include anyone who would like to reach out to Class of ’64. Will be held in more public environment like a large sports bar with an area reserved for us. Would have appetizers and a cash bar. There would be no fee to attend. Would be in the suburbs to assure as safe an area as possible. Need ideas here—if you know a great place let us know. For the 55th we had this at Hickory Tavern in Collierville as an example (closed now). Would need to try and get an idea of how many might be coming, but reservations would not be needed.
Second night would be the reunion. We are thinking that a dinner (buffet or plated?) at a hotel or other site. With a DJ (do we still dance?) and photographer. Limited to grads and their guests. There would be some fee to cover expenses and reservations would have to be made. Other ideas or additional ideas welcomed. Also locations you think we should consider.
Some discussion about other events like a golf outing on the morning of reunion. Do we play golf? What other ideas might be fun to do together. These would, of course, be optional events.
Timing:
We hope to have firm plans by end of May and announce details of events by then. So we need your input as soon as possible so we can research your ideas and make arrangements for sites, DJ and photographer. Also, we need you to help spread the word. Stick this announcement anywhere that you think some of our class might be visiting. If you aren’t full of ideas, please reach out and let us know your current email and let us know the events you would most likely attend.
Thanks to all and we are looking forward to hearing from you! Ron Cartwright. Commissioner of Student Assembly. RonCartwright64@gmail.com Email me TODAY!

For the 55th we invited all classes to join us where we provided appetizers and had a cash bar. We also had a dinner for the class. Other options could be a luncheon or picnic - Leonard's BB comes to mind! Dinner with a DJ and a photographer - do we still dance? Luncheon; Picni?
The commjjitte will also make sure all venues are in safe and accessible locations.

Ok - I need to get on this site more! So lovely that so many of you remember each other's birthdays and sent messages! So to all those I missed, you are thought of often and with love. I don't like telling everyone to stay safe, just stay healthy and engaged with life. So happy to have seen all at the reunion last year - got it in just in time and truly missed those who could not attend. I passed on the cost of the maintenance of this site to Ron so be sure to thank him. Looking forward to another trip to Memphis and to seeing dear friends.
Happy Birthday. We all need to celebrate every one.
