Connie Coleman Crookston
1950 - 2016
Connie Coleman Crookston passed away the morning of Saturday, May 28, 2016, after battling early onset dementia. She was born in Boise on June 8, 1950 to Carol and Elva Coleman. Connie attended Meridian High School and later moved to Horseshoe Bend where she graduated from Emmett High School in 1968.
Connie attended Boise State College where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She began working at the Attorney General's office where she met Wayne Crookston Jr., a graduate of the University of Idaho Law School. They were married in 1975. Their son Trey (Wayne Crookston III) was born in 1979 and their daughter Ashlee in 1982. Her life revolved around her kid's activities and she spent many hours attending Trey's sporting events and Ashlee's dance competitions.
She returned to work as a legal administrative assistant for many years. Connie was involved with a number of organizations including Junior League, and a founding member and president of Chapter BZ PEO. She was Director of the Miss Meridian Scholarship Pageant and on the Preferred Judges list for the Miss Idaho Organization. Connie was recognized for all her community and philanthropic involvement, and was named Woman of the Year by the Meridian Chamber of Commerce.
Her time spent with friends and family were what made her the happiest and she'll be remembered, most importantly, for her kind heart and sweet nature. Connie was known for her fabulous style and was always dressed and accessorized to the nines. Her friends always knew that on shopping adventures, there was a new purse or piece of jewelry that she must have.
She loved BSU football and was a long time season ticket holder. Gathering at tailgates and football games with her friends was something she looked forward to each fall. Her impeccable style carried through as she always wore her BSU attire and accessories for every game.
Connie is survived by her son Trey Crookston (Amy), daughter Ashlee Johnson (Justin) and brother, Jerry Coleman (Tina), and her faithful dog Shelby. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Sam Crookston, Brooklyn Johnson and Cameron Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Connie is preceded in death by her father Carol Coleman, mother Elva Coleman Archabal, her step father Dan Archabal, her infant brother Rodney Coleman and former husband, Wayne Crookston Jr.
The family would like to express their gratitude to her dedicated and loving friends who supported her these past few years, as well as Treasure Valley Hospice and The Cottages of Meridian for their kind and gentle care.
