Kim 'Kathy' Miller

Now
This is from a recent bio ... pretty much sums it up. I live on a little patch of land outside of Wimberley, TX (the result of a Brownie Girl Scout promise made oh-so-many years ago!) I only perform a few shows a year now: I'm much more interested in writing, cooking and gardening. I'm in the process of turning an old recording studio into a 'writer's' guest-house, called "Grove House", here on the land. Sort of a B&B for imaginative thinking, rest and reinvigoration. With a little luck, open by the holidays!
"Gulf Coast born and West Texas raised, Kim Miller has traversed the globe as a dive-master and story collector, gathering from a broad expanse of elements for her testament-of-life songs.
Dubbed the “dirt road poet”, Kim articulates human struggle and transcendence with keen acuity. Her songs are delivered with stirring vocal intuition and presence.
Texas Music magazine Editor, Tom Buckley says, “Miller crafts meticulous, intimate tales at once hypnotic and seductive, buoyed by a voice remarkable in it’s ability to express complex emotion.”
Willis Alan Ramsey calls Kim “A native Texas voice whose music brings the Old World cultures of France, Mexico and the British Isles forward into the 21st century community of singer/songwriters. If you can catch her live, you should."
In 2009, Kim was a New Folk Finalist for the Kerrville Folk Festival. She has released two nationally acclaimed albums and performs periodically with some of the finest musicians in Austin and beyond. She has lived in a cabin in the woods near Wimberley for fifteen years and still SCUBA dives."
