David L. Matthews, 61, passed away Aug. 13, 2012 in Midvale, Utah. He was born March 13, 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Douglas and Elaine Jenkins Matthews. He married Doreen Elaine Pacheco in Elko, Nevada. She passed away Nov. 28, 1994.
David graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1969, and worked for many years as a brakeman at Kennecott Copper. He was dedicated to his family and helping his younger brother. He enjoyed fine food and a good cup of coffee. David was a very selfless person.
Survived by sons, David Paul (Erin) Matthews, Micheal (Cynthia) Matthews, Jeremy (Courtney) Matthews; mother, Elaine Matthews; brothers, Howard (Gail) Matthews and Greg Matthews; and eight grandchildren. Preceded in death by his father, Douglas.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 1 p.m. at the West Jordan City Cemetery, 7800 South 1300 West. There will be a viewing Monday 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Midvale. www.goffmortuary.com
