Colleen Strong Stevenson
“Sunshine”
Colleen Strong Stevenson passed away on January 19, 2025, surrounded by her family. She loved her family with all her heart.
Colleen was born on August 11, 1951, to Vincent and Fay Webb Strong. She was raised in Midvale, Utah. She attended Hillcrest High School, graduating in 1969, then attended The Church College of Hawaii where she made lifelong friends and memories.
Colleen had an uncanny ability to connect with people and touched hearts wherever she went. She would go out of her way to help others in their time of need. She had a heart of servitude and was a mom for many. Her involvement in the Girl Scouts of Utah, Boy Scouts of America, and PTA had a long-lasting impact. She had many passions, her family being first. She could always be found helping her children with their many projects even in their adult lives. The pleasure of being Nana for the last 20 years filled her with great joy. She enjoyed creating beautiful flower arrangements, and ran her business, Ladybug Floral, for about 20 years. Following in her mom's footsteps she was the Salt Lake County Fair Floriculture Department Supervisor for years. She supported the various birds and animals that graced her home and gave much love to all of the fur grandbabies.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Fay, her siblings Craig, Chris, Vincent and her beloved husband Gary.
She is survived and will be missed by her five children, Bryan, April, Melodie (Joe), Scott (Peggy) and Jeff (Deanne) and four grandchildren, Jack, Ace, Ben and Christopher.
Our family would like to thank the multitude of caregivers, medical staff, ward members, neighbors, and friends who assisted mom in some way as her health declined. In particular, the staff at The Cottages on Vine, Copper Ridge Health Care and the team at Intermountain Medical Center.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Broomhead Funeral Home 12600 S 2200 W, Riverton, Utah. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11:00 am, at Country Park 3rd Ward at 1988 W 11400 S, South Jordan, Utah. Friends and family can gather from 9:30-10:30 am prior to the services.
In Lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Girl Scouts of Utah: https://www.gsutah.org/en/support-us/donate-locally/donation-form.html
Interment will be at the Midvale City Cemetery.

Her parents grew a lot of flowers from seed and I was fascinated with the color and variety they had when we were in elementary school. I went to Girl Scouts and Girls State with Colleen and have often wondered about her since I've not seen her since our school days. I was glad to read in her obituary that she continued using her family talent with flowers.
