Diane Veenendaal Kleis March 8, 1945 to Ap 1 1995 La Grange Illinois of brain cancer diagnosed in Aug. 1994.

Husband:  Leo Kleis Jan 31, 1943 Aug 15, 1995 La Grange ILL. died Aug. 18, 1995 of brain cancer diagnosed in April of 1994.

Diane is survived by: One son, adapted by her brother  Dr. Jan Veendaal, in Yorktown Indiana.  Custer 61 Diane and her husband died within 4 months of each other of brain tumors.

There is another irony here.  Diane's brother, Jan had a child that died as a young child in an unfortunate drowning when he wondered away on a cabin vacation.  This happened a few years before Diane passed.

Diane and I lived near Lincoln Creek in homes designed for returning VETS called CAPE CODS. She was on the west side of Sherman Blvd. I was on the east side. We'd walk to each other's homes to "hang out". It didn't hurt that she had a good lookin' older brother! Diane was a quiet, serious gal and loyal to friends to the end.

In her married years we remained in touch through annual Christmas cards. Diane earned a teaching degree and she taught for a while.  Later her "job" and love, as an adult, was collecting and selling "Flo Blue" at a time when I had the hobby of collecting Depression Glass.  Flo Blu China was really in demand in the 70's and Diane and her husband traveled all over the USA to buy and sell it but she really like the east coast for travel.

We found out that her husband, Leo, had a best friend that lived directly across the street from us in Golden Valley MN when we saw her visiting our neighbors one day.  What a surprise all the way from Illinois.  We had a wonderful mini-reunion.

May you be in peace, my childhood friend.  I think of you often, especially at Christmas and always when I see FLO BLU.
