I worked with Dennis at Foodtown (neighborhood grocery), he was one of the kindest caring people I knew. It doesn't surprise me that he was a policeman, a profession to help people.
i also worked with dennis at foodtown, along with marjie brooks(ex-wife)& jim lengling(we still keep in touch).dennis was a bit of a hellraiser, but a good guy.he went to prom with one of my neighbors(diane feltize).went to his funeral, very sad to see someone you liked & so young gone.
I also worked with Dennis at Food Town - We got to be good work buddies. His girlfriend Dianne Feltes always sat near me in the classes we were in together - because we were always seated in alphabetical order. At Food Town I was paid $.85/hour and Dennis was paid $1.10/hour. He was kind of in charge nights and weekends.
I kept his blue '56 ford / post car with 3 on the tree / 6 cyl. and detailed it for him whenever he asked. In return for my services he allowed me to use the car for my 1 hour lunch break ( on the weekends ) to go home and eat lunch - so that was my wheels for a short time ( before I was able to get my own wheels ). Actually I hardly ever went home to eat lunch - instead, I would cruise to Golden Point or Town Pride to grab a burger / fries and look 'KOOL'. I thought that would be a better use of my time and koolness. The odometer and fuel guage didn't work so I just replace the gas I used - And Dennis thought I was home eating my bologna sandwich. "SORRY" Dennis - but, I did take real good care of the car - no burn outs or tickets. I didn't want to ruin a good thing.
Dennis was a wonderful person - hard worker - great friend and generally in a good mood. I would have been proud to serve with Dennis on the swift boat I was on in VietNam - He was a team player -
