Reunion book Bio (300 word limit)
I attended the U of M and Minneapolis School of Art. In 1962 I married “the boy next door” who had just moved next door from Baudette, MN. In 1965 we bought our first home and moved to Coon Rapids where our first son was born in 1966, and our second in 1971. I had several long-term corporate jobs. My first full-time job was at Northwestern National Life on information input for the company’s first and only computer. I worked there five years. My second job was with Target when they had 10 stores located only in Minnesota. I worked there 11 years. The company from which I retired after 22 years was Hoffman Engineering, now Pentair Corporation in Anoka. Our two sons are married, and we have four beautiful grandchildren. Our oldest son, David, has a 17-year old daughter and is a CAD drafter and finishing carpenter. Dave’s wife, Pam, works for Allina. Our second son, Don, has three sons and is a teacher in Anoka and head baseball coach at Andover High School. His wife, Renee, works for KARE 11. We are in good health and hope to do more traveling at some point. I have a 20-member music group (accordions, guitar, washboard, garbage can, bass and other noisy things) that entertain at nursing homes. We have floats in the Coon Rapids and Pine City parades. I keep busy arranging our music and coordinating activities. I also sew toddler clothes for shelters and have donated hundreds of little outfits to local charities. That is a labor of love. Because our class was so huge, it was difficult to get to know many people, but we had spirit and great rock ‘n roll music. It was an innocent time – a time that I wish kids today could experience. They wouldn’t believe it!!!
