From Thomas James ... My Best Friend Robert (Bob) Coates, who graduated from Gleforest in '79, passed away in December of 2002 from Skin Cancer. He was survived by his partner Karen Saunders and his parents Keith and Aileen, his sister and brother-in-law MaryKay and Brian and little brother John. He was well loved at the CBC where he worked as a writer/producer for the Radio show "As It Happens". There was a very large memorial held at the Liberty Ballroom with many CBC Celebs in attendance. I had the honour of giving the first speech as I was his childhood friend.

From Chris Knapp... I was saddened to read your post Tom. After all these years. I remember Bob very well. All of the concerts from that club he was a member of. I still have pictures of Gary Shaw, Bob and myself at Styx I believe (old Maple Leaf Gardens)probably 1977 or 78. Funny to think I was probably listening to his work on "As it Happens", a favorite CBC show.
