In Memory

Christine Dias - Class Of 1984 VIEW PROFILE

From Arthur Dias

Christine died at age 18 from complications from heart defect at birth.

She was survived by her brother, Arthur Dias and her parents, Ana and Joe (d. 2010)

Feels like a lifetime ago. It has been 30 years, but I still remember so much about that day like it happened yesterday. Friends are not supposed to lose someone they are in school with, but that happened for a lot of people that day. I lost my only sister. My three beautiful children only know their aunt through my memories and photos. She would have adored them.

Arthur,

Hope that all is well with you and your family.  It has been a long time. My foundest memory of Christine is her and I hanging out in homeroom in middle school.  She was beautiful, smart, couragous and strong. Christine would return to school after absences; having  gone through major surgery, fighting through set backs or attending endless appointments and unless you knew her you would have never know the challenges she had been facing.  As young children we are resiliant and often don't understand the importance or impact some relationships will have on us as adults.  I think of Christine often.  When my sister became ill and later passed in her 30's I drew on my relationship and memory of Christine, her strength and courage.  While visiting my parents on Bloor I would look across at the apartments where you and Christine grew up I would think of you both, how close the two of you were.  How you supported and loved each other. You are an amazing brother.  Thank you for sharing your memories.

My thoughts and prayers are with you always,

Peggy Wright
