On August 28, 2021 at our 45th class reunion, while Ron Keeling led the group in singing "Oh Danny Boy" in memory of our 18 lost classmates, 18 geese flew overhead at the exact moment.  We would like to continue to honor the memories of classmates who have passed.  Please send us information on those you know.

Edith Jane Grund (Muci Palinkas)
AGE: 64 - Passed away at her home after a short/sudden illness from Pancreatic Cancer in Kent, Ohio. DATE OF DEATH: November 17, 2022

Edi (Muci) was the type of person you either hated or loved depending on how much you can absorb from her intense, authentic, and empathic personality. If you allowed her into your life, you knew what true acceptance is since she had the ability to allow you to be yourself no matter what you brought to the table. She loved to party!

Muci was born in Daytona Beach, Florida. Her parents were Janos “Big John” (1935-2005) and Hedwig (Ronto) Palinkas (1935-2004.) Among other things, her parents taught her to love her Hungarian heritage including baking and cooking. Also, she is predeceased by her son “Bret” who transitioned from a permanent illness of “Glioblastoma”.

Edi went to Glover Elementary for Kindergarten and Christ the King School in Akron before moving out to Suffield with her family and graduating from Field High School in 1976. She graduated from Kent State University (Main Campus 1981) with a bachelor’s degree majoring in Accounting and Business Administration. In 2011 she received her Master’s in Education with a Reading endorsement as an Intervention Specialist. She received her license in teaching through Ohio Department of Education, a job she loved.

In 1981, Muci married Michael M Grund, her true love, that lasted 41-years. Together they had two beautiful children, (Scarlett and Bret). Bret is helping his mom during transition. Scarlett became an enormous part of her caretaking. A mother cannot be prouder of her intellect, beauty, and common sense. She loved being a “Mama Grund” to all of Bret’s friends who became an important part of her life. No one went home hungry.

Along with her husband and daughter she is survived by her sister Susan E. Rowley who lives in Port Orange, Florida; Her Nieces Ashley Clark (Austin (Abby: Briella); Haley, Leksi, & Sean Clark), Jessie Grund, Julie Grund, Heather (Joseph) Rebeck (John: Thea, Joseph, and Evan) and nephews Janos (Meghan: Kayla and Parker); Justin (Almeda) Grund; and Joshua Grund.

Instead of a celebration of life, the family would love that you generously donate to the following reputable charities: Hospice of Western Reserve-Summit, Unity Chapel of Light in Tallmadge; League of Women’s Voters-Kent; and volunteers and donations of cleaned old sheets, blankets, ties are welcome to Cocoon Makers in Ravenna

Ron Messenger
On Monday, June 22, 2015 our husband, father, mentor, friend and brother went home to the Lord. The hole left by his departure will be deeply felt by the hundreds of people whose lives he touched and enriched. Of all the men this family has been proud to know, he has set the standard we will all strive to achieve.

Carpenter, mechanic, engineer, a helping hand in dark times, and a kind word and patient ear for any who needed it, he is survived by his equally remarkable wife, Jacks; his children, who he adored and who worshipped him, Brody, Alexa, Kevin, Steve, and Ron (Julie); his two grandchildren, Kate and Eva, who will be blessed to grow up in a world filled with people who remember and have learned from their grandpa; his mother, Mary; and his siblings, Daniel, Richard, and Candy. The wealth of friends who he treated as his family will stand as a tribute to this truly great man.
