All ~
Can't tell you how fun it is (as a member of the reunion committee) to read how jazzed everyone is getting about the reunion... It should be a great time! Lot's of people coming to the game, lot's of people going out afterwards on Friday. And the parade will be a blast! Anyone on the fence... PLEASE join us! That means you too Cat Gravitt! And Deidre said you were dressing as a contemporaire and dancing with pom pons down 23rd avenue? That will be great... I'll be sure to have my camera ready!!

I might go just to see that Tracy! I know I can't go, but I am still trying to figure out a possible way. I would love for my boys to see a "real" homecoming parade and football game. I live in a small town where we get excited if the graduating class is over 100. My first homecoming parade here was a real culture shock, but what can I say, if the reunion was on Nov. 15th it would be no problem, we get "Deer Day" (opening day of rifle dear hunting season) off of school. The more I read of the profiles and postings, the more I want to go. It sounds like it is going to be a blast! Who knows, we'll see. By the way,....GO CUBS!!!!! Let's hear it from my fellow Cub fans! (I have only found one other fan here in my town) Thanks again Tracy, Chris and everyone else on the reunion committee!! You have done a great job and a wonderful service to the class of 83. (except fot those of us who need Gretta and Kris's 12 step program)

Cathy Gravitt (Coleman)

what the heck you guys?? the reason why I don't want to walk in the parade is because Deidre will have me doing sprints and I haven't exercised since 7th grade Volleyball with Miss Boleman at Wilson Jr. High!!!

Chris Castle

Catt, you are gonna be in the parade if I have to drag you by your banana yellow Mammy Yokum boots!!!!!

Tracy Burdick (Reitan)

Miss Boleman! Yikes... Now THERE is a memory!

Kathleen Brown (Brown-Pérez)

Yuck!!! Thanks for the nightmares. Remember those AWFUL maroon and white one-piece gym outfits we had to wear in 7th grade?!?! Horrible.

10/01/08 01:24 PM #50

Susan Saelens (Clark)

I think I still have nightmares about those gym suits! Like the first year at Jr. High and being a 7th grader wasn't dorky enough, they made us wear those things to try our for cheerleading at JD (in front of a crowd). No scarring for life there!

10/01/08 01:25 PM #51

Susan Saelens (Clark)

Oh Ya, GO CUBS GO!

10/01/08 03:32 PM #52

Kathleen Brown (Brown-Pérez)

I think Jr. High is a bad psychological experiment.

GO REDSOX! :-)

10/01/08 05:52 PM #53

Susan Saelens (Clark)

Red Sox had their turn, It's ours now!

10/01/08 06:21 PM #54

Heather Wolf (Erickson)

OK...enough of all that...GO RAYS!! Brian is getting his "ray-hawk" all jelled up! Remember, their entire payroll is less than the Yankee short/3rd combo! Although I have some residual love for the Cubbies, it sure was fun sweeping them in Fla.

Go RAYS!

Come on, give me a break. I've been waiting 43 years for this. My class even voted for our class "team" name to be Clark's Cubs. There is only one other guy and his family in town that is Cub's fan. I am a Tigers fan too, but the Cubs are still first. GO CUBS!

10/01/08 09:24 PM #56

Kathleen Brown (Brown-Pérez)

I must admit, I am crossing my fingers for the Cubbies. How could I not? Too many years in Illinois. Massachusetts has been very spoiled in the past few years with baseball (finally!), football (but I like the Packers), and basketball. Truth is, I would LOVE to see a Redsox/Cubs World Series, and I'd be happy no matter who won that one.

Go Padres!......well maybe next year.

Go Angels too! Interesting note on the Angels, Mike Butcher (some of you may know) from UTHS is the pitching coach for the Angels. He was a middle reliever for the Angels in the mid '90s and then went on to coaching with the Marlin's and then to the Angels.

Heather Wolf (Erickson)

Go Rays!

FYI...had my yearbook out as a reference when I couldn't put a face to a name...lucky me, my dog ate the cover off and shredded the book. It was safe and sound before I wondered on to this fun website!

Looking forward to seeing you old folks in Moline. Sue Saelens...we all know you want to come-get on your bike and get to the party French Fry!

Deidre Dombek (Lindahl)

Seven days and counting!! By this time next week, I'll be back in the Quad Cities ... shining up two pairs of white pointie shoes for Cathy and I to wear in the parade. I wonder if Mrs. Shannon has some extra old Contemporaires uniforms. Haaaaaaaa! No, I won't make her do sprints but yes, I will make her lead everyone in the MHS fight song! I always have to do SOMETHING to embarrass her. Seriously I'm so excited to see everyone!!

I'm renting a car and can be the designated driver for anyone who needs a ride for the Bar Crawl! Maybe we can teepee Moline High School ... or Gretchen's house. She has lots of trees in her yard. :)

Whitey's is a must for me after the football game. Yumm! Heather Wolff, can you still do a million flip flops in a row? I dare you to do them on the track (at the game) while we yell "M - O - L - I - N - E". The class of 2009 doesn't have anything on us! :)

Is anyone else planning to wear jeans to the dance on Saturday? Nothing has changed since 1983. I STILL hate to wear dresses!! See you all soon!

P.S. Chris Castle, check out the last picture on my Profile!! :)

Rick Gilson

I second the vote for jeans! How about overalls and flannel shirts. That seemed to be a fashion trend for awhile. Coming up from Atlanta, I may need the warm clothes since my blood has thinned a little.
I am not planning on going to the football game but if you can get Heather W. to do those flip-flops on the track I might change my mind.
I am looking forward to see all of you and having a great time. Will all of those "designated drivers" please give me their cell numbers because I might need to call for a ride around 4am!
Safe travels!

Tracy Burdick (Reitan)

Yes! Jeans! Even the reunion committee members are all planning on wearing jeans.

And Rick, what's up with not coming to the game!? Why not!? You need to reconsider.

Deidre... you are officially in charge of leading cheers for our class... we'll make Cat get out there too!

Looking forward to next weekend. Embarrased to say this will be my first time getting back for a reunion, so I’m brushing up on old yearbook photos to remember names. I was going to say the mind isn’t as sharp as it used to be, but since we’re all the same age I can’t get away with that excuse!

Hoping to get back for the game against Galesburg. We’re leaving Chicago after my oldest gets out of school, so barring any speeding tickets we’ll hopefully make it. Our homecoming is today, so I had to laugh this morning when our neighbors house was tee peed! Some high school traditions never change.

10/03/08 10:33 AM #63

Deidre Dombek (Lindahl)

Yeah!!! Jeans it IS! That's perfect for me ... and I know Cathy will be so happy. Rick Gilson, you BETTER come to the game Friday night! What the heck?! What ELSE do you have to do on a Friday night in Moline, Illinois. Come ON! It's for old time's sake ... and if Heather doesn't do the flip flops, Cathy and I will give it the old college try. Although we might land on our heads by the second one. Ha! Cathy, you go first!! :)

I will absolutely be your designated driver, Rick. We can smush as many people as possible in my car to keep the night rolling. I think tee peeing Gretchen's house is the best idea so far. :)

Brian Townsend

Jeans for Saturday?! Not me, I am wearing a white dinner jacket with black lapels, black pants, black dress shoes, and bringing my guitar damn it!

Just kidding, jeans sound good......

Dan Hale

Deidre,
My son Tyer is reading this over my shoulder - having lunch together - he says he'll race ya. I believe his 400 PR is 55.3 or something.

10/03/08 12:45 PM #66

Dan Hale

Actually I just found this message form and quickly read through it. Many of you have sounded the same sentiments that I was thinking:
- Great Website
- It's a horrible distraction from work
- Great memories
- Want more pictures
- etc.
Makes me really want to re-prioritize and make it next week end.

Have a blast everyone!

10/03/08 12:49 PM #67

Tracy Burdick (Reitan)

Dan Hale... do it! Re-prioritize and get your buns to the reunion!!

10/03/08 01:24 PM #68

Deidre Dombek (Lindahl)

Yes, Dan! Reprioritize!! Come play!! And no WAY do I want to race your son ... maybe Rick Gilson should. Come on Rick! I can tell you're still fit from your pictures. Show that little kid that age doesn't matter. I'll buy you a drink (or a Whitey's) right afterwards. Just in case I'll bring my stopwatch and we could do it right after the parade ... and that's right after Chris Castle does our final 1983 Contemporaires routine for us ... and that's after Cathy Gravitt sings us a song as "Mammy Yokum". :) I'm TOTALLY distracted from my work and feel like I'm 18 years old again. Sigh ... it's fun to dream. :)
