P.S. Brian, forget the jeans. Just come in your MHS football uniform. Or maybe you could borrow your son's basketball uniform ... haaa!

Brian Townsend

My old football uni was stolen out of my closet while down at ISU unfortunately...so no go. And I doubt that I could break into the school these days (without getting caught) to get Jordan's B-ball jersey....so I guess I will have to go with the jeans and plaid shirt! Carius and I are getting the Contemporaires uniforms ready for you and Cathy though!! GEAR UP!

Regarding Jeans,
How many of you have casual Friday where everyone wears jeans, sweat shirts and other 'less than casual' attire? The new job is great as I only wear ties to special occassions - it's easier on the clothes budget too.

I think what bugs me more than anything is that some of our classmates have 'retired' from a job. Brad Mann retired from the Navy - how that's just sick. We are way too young to be drawing a pension.

I will reconsider going to the game since it looks like there will be some interesting acrobats going on. Maybe we can get the TV show "America's Got Talent" to come out and video tape the show??? A bunch of middle aged folks trying to get their grove back. Just don't get hurt in the process or should I say don't get arrested.
Regarding the race, I have lost my fast twitch muscles. I am more like the turtle with a nice slow even pace. You may not get there as fast but your really enjoy the trip along the way;-)
Thanks for the offer to be our designated driver! With gas prices the way they are I am going to take advantage of the free ride whether I am tipsy or not!
By the way, how long is this site going to stay running after the reunion is over?

10/03/08 04:17 PM #73

Tracy Burdick (Reitan)

The site will be up and running as long as we can financially support it. We plan on keeping it up and running from now until the last classmate is buried... hopefully a LONG TIME! :)

Dan, Every day is casual day for me, as I work out of my house. I yell at insurance companies all day long. As far as they know, I'm in an Ann Klein suit behind a big, fancy desk. Sure have THEM fooled! Haaaaaa!

I can't even WAIT to see you all! We'll create enough memories to last until the 30th reunion. Cathy, where are you?!

:)

Brent Ziegler

Woooo Weeee.....Thats my TN hills holler. I would love to do the jeans thing. I think all my dress pants have that funny white line where dust settles on the place where they rest on the hanger. Also button up shirts make me a lil itchy.

Deidre I think you should start your own editorial column. I am enjoying reading all the good natured banter that is on the site. As matter a fact this website is probably what convinced me to make the jaunt to the Q-cities. Until yesterday I wasn't sure but Karen (my wife who won't let me put her picture on the website) said I should go our I would be pouting and grumpy until the next reunion.

I am not sure about the game...are we just getting tickets at the gate or do we have a section to sit in. I know I want to go run in the big wooden barrel at the park next to the field (if its still there).

Mr. Portillo you have not changed much look forward to seeing you probably been 25 years or so.

Brian T sorry to hear you lost your uniform at ISU...never heard that one. You didnt loan it to Mike M the night he returned from his midnight jog did you?

Am I the only one that has aged, gotten achy bones and alot of ear hair?

Where does the pub crawl start? I did not reserve a dinner slot so the crawl might be the only function I make other than the game.

Hope to see you all friday. whoo - t - Whoooo

Brent (Look me up you probably dont remember me)

10/03/08 08:11 PM #76

Gretta Liljeberg (Wells)

Sorry Brent, no more barrel at Browning park. They replaced it with new fangled equipment and a sand volleyball court!
As for Rick choosing not be a designated driver-good choice. I still remember him driving me through Morgan Park at about 100 mph in his little Celica! I actually just told my daughters that story the other day...
Deidre, maybe you could borrow my daughter's maroon tennis skort and I could try to find my old comtemporaire sweater and you could slink your way into the line-up for the parade. No one would ever know you didn't belong!! At least until you did your honk laugh, then they might become curious!!

10/03/08 08:42 PM #77

Kathleen Brown (Brown-Pérez)

I think Brent is right that the pub crawl should begin at a particular location, instead of just everyone going to one of the bars on the list. Shouldn't everyone be crawling together? And, Tracy, is it really too late for Brent to go to the dinner/dance at the Moline Club? C'mon... we've known him since kindergarten!!! It's a little late to exclude him now... It's funny that we're focusing on 25 years. Some of us have been together since 1970!!

PS... GO REDSOX!!!!

Heather Wolf (Erickson)

Go Rays...need I elaborate?

OK...let's set the record straight..no back handsprings! Get your mind out of the gutter Gilson. Dombek's starting trouble...however, with the right amount of southern comfort, who knows?

Let's face it gang, we are a jean type of group at heart. The event sounds like a great time and if you are on the fence whether you are coming or not-just load up and come. You only live once and of all times in our lives, this is the part we should celebrate.

Looking forward to seeing the 2008 faces of 1983.

Go Rays!

Heather

Deidre Dombek (Lindahl)

Yeah!! Everyone's coming (and hopefully wearing jeans)! Brent, you HAVE to be able to get into the dance ... I'll eat half of my portion and everyone knows that Cathy eats like a bird (she's my date), so there's plenty of food for you! Either that or you could just swing by Hardee's Hamburgers for dinner and then meet us over at the place for the "dance". Who would ever know? :)

Gretta, I'd love to wear the skorts and sweater but Cathy is MUCH smaller than me. I know she's dying to do a little jig for us, so out of the goodness of my heart, I'm letting Cathy wear it. She's a much better leader anyway.

I agree with Heather 100%! This is the time that we need to meet. Isn't 25 years away long enough?!

I also agree that we need to have a starting place for the "Crawl" for those of you who won't make it to the Moline game. But I don't know of any bars there since I live in California. Someone else has to come up with a starting place and a time. For the Moline game, I'm going to make a sign that says "1983" on it for the bleacher seats. If we don't have seats together, we'll just push the youngins out of the way that are next to us and make them go find other seats. They don't care anyway .... all they want to do is kiss their boyfriends/girlfriends at the park during the game. Ha!! That's where I had my first kiss (no tongue ... ewww!) ... but I won't kiss and tell!!!

:)

Gerald (Jerry) Kell

Wow, 25 years! I was such a dork back then, still am but I'm more ok with it now, hahaha. Since I won't be at the reunion, this web site has been great for me. It's interesting to see where everyone has dispersed to. A lot of east coasters. I'm interested to know if anyone has where abouts of some of the other misfits I ran with, Jon Davis? Eric Hernandez (rumor has him as a Bhuddist monk)? Ron Carlson?

Have fun at the reunion and try and stay out of trouble!

Peter Holst

The pub crawl should have a starting place. Pick one and let us know. It doesn't matter which one. As for Saturday, for those that still can hang, the after party will continue one block south of the Moline Club, next to Temple's Sporting goods. The Svithiod Club, at 1522 6th avenue, is a fun little bar with cheep drinks, plenty of room, and a good juke box. Lets keep this thing rolling. If I may touch on the point of keeping this site up until the last person passes away, whoever that may be, will you please turn out the lights on the way out. Can't wait to see all of you, even if I can't remember you all. I hope there are name tags.

10/04/08 08:04 PM #83

Kathleen Brown (Brown-Pérez)

Yes, name tags please, so we don't have many obvious "senior" moments. To save the Reunion Committee money, I suggest everyone bring their own name tag, with or without their h.s. senior picture attached.

10/04/08 08:09 PM #84

Tracy Burdick (Reitan)

The reunion committee is taking into consideration all of the chatter and concern about a starting place for the Pub Crawl. We'll suggest The River House as the starting point... seems like a good spot and that's where we were all at for the 20th on Friday night. All the bars are centrally located, and because people will be starting at different times, you may start where you would like ... and keep your cell phones handy for connecting with everyone.

As for you Brent... we are planning on having you at the dinner dance... we'd never turn you away. You are there!

We have been given the thumbs up from the Activities Director to section off an area for our class at the football game, so we will be there early to do that... please look for CAUTION tape and a sign that states CLASS OF 83. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the gate. Please come in at the main gate which is in the parking lot of Browning Field/Wharton .... as the committee will be right inside to greet you and point you to the section we have sectioned off.

FOR ALL OF THE DETAILED PLANS FOR OUR REUNION WEEKEND.... PLEASE SEE THE 25 YR REUNION TAB TO THE LEFT.

Anyone else on the fence?... please come and join us! We will not turn anyone away.

Tracy Burdick (Reitan)

Don't worry about the name tags! They are already taken care of!

However, Friday night - you are on your own!!! We'll have to all just figure it out that night.

I guess if everyone could be sure to post a current picture on the website , that would help. :)

P.S. C'mon Cubbies!!!!!

10/04/08 09:19 PM #87

Brent Ziegler

Tracy,

Thanks...

Feels like coming home...again.

I will start at the River House and push forward to the next 5 locations. I will have to come up with a master plan to pace myself. Endeavor to persevere will be my mantra for the night.

Although the committee has heard it from others I would like to say good job!!!

Hey I just realized something. If the game is over around 9:30 amd we start crawling at say 9:45 my bedtime is usually about 10:00. I dont think I will be able to get to each stop....looks like pacing is out of the question. Serpentine!!!!!!!

Deidre Dombek (Lindahl)

I'd be happy to bring name tags to the parade! I will absolutely NOT be offended if people don't remember me ... I have a million more wrinkles now and my hair is jet black .... a mishap when I bought a package of hair dye and asked my neighbor to try to get the gray out before the reunion. WHOOPS!! No laughing please!! :)

Everybody try and go to the game so we can all start the Bar Crawl together.
Six days and counting.

:)

Sounds like a MASTER PLAN!

- FRIDAY Parade - for those who can make it, look for Gravitt dancing and doing flip flop, and Dombeck doing the "honk laugh"...(wish I could be there for that...but will be golfing with Martel and others from our class)
- FRIDAY, Football game - have section for just Class of 1983 (I think around the 25 - 30 yard line toward the parking lot is typically open)- perfect! P.S. Carius, I have a "special hat" for you to wear on game night. It is a bear head (pin head) that is about the same size as what was on our Sr Yr homecoming float (that you designed....cost us the whole damn thing). Wear it with PRIDE! I think I will be selling "Bring Back the Bear" T-shirts that night near the gate.
- FRIDAY night Pub Crawl - EVERYONE try to meet at River House (nice and BIG...we will need space) first around 9:45 or 10:00 after the game is over (after MHS kicks bumm)....also, keep tabs on Brent so he does not wander off and get lost in a dark alley.
- Saturday Night - Dinner & Dance at Moline Club - then like Holst said, all meet up somewhere for after hours party. Dombeck is renting a city bus and will drive EVERYONE home if needed...there will be a lot of takers!)

Looking forward to seeing you everyone!!

All ~
We also informed the pubs listed for the pub crawl that our dinner/dance is done at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday and that classmates may be out and about at the downtown bars afterwards again.

Egghead!!! Of course we remember you! I am so glad you're coming to the reunion we weren't sure you would.

Hi Deidre! I can't wait to see you & Cathy it has been way too many years! We're still doing lunch Saturday right?
