Okay...so I keep reading about this Yogi pinhead bear float and, for the life of me, can not remember anything about it! Am I the only one whose memory is a bit foggy?! LOL!

Jen, Click on the "our high school days" tab to the left and there is a picture of the famous bear. How could you forget??
My daughter's have been busy helping with the freshmen float for the parade. Makes me want to try my hand at "pomping" again...

On a serious note, I hope that everyone does have a designated driver. Please don't drink and drive. My husband, and subsequently my family have paid a high price at the hand of a drunk driver. There are no "do-overs," and life is precious. Be safe, and HAVE A GREAT REUNION!

My freshman son put on his brand new Cross Country warm-up suit today; SOLID MAROON with yellow/gold letters. I suppose it is almost like being back in Moline.

Have a great weekend at the reunion.

Cathy Gravitt~ I found my contemporaire sweater! I have it sitting out for you! ;) It will probably fit you, but I know I would never get it on. Can't wait to see you dance.

Brian! I absolutely would drive a bus if we had one, to take everyone around on Friday and Saturday nights! It's much more fun to ride together. We'll figure something out. Maybe I can take two or three trips so we can make sure everyone's safe .... nothing is that far away in the Quad Cities. I'm from California where 30 minutes away is CLOSE! :)

I'm SO excited that you found a Contemporaires sweater for Cathy. I'll find some pom poms and then she'll be set. She can lead us all in song and dance down 23rd Avenue (and yes, Bri, I'll be doing my "honk" laugh the entire time)!! What fun we'll have. I can hardly stand how excited I am.

I'm getting on a plane early tomorrow and will see everyone either Friday afternoon at the parade or Friday night at the game. YEAH!! ?? We are Moliners, we're from Moline!?? We'll miss everyone who isn't coming but I promise to take LOTS of pictures to post on the website for those who couldn't make it.

Just an FYI---
I FOUND my Contemporaire sweater...
it won't fit over my WRIST!!!
One of you Skinny Minnies can wear it if you want! I have to work so will miss the parade, but my sweater is available! :-) I would also post a picture of me in a bikini, but I would make you all ILL. See you soon.

CATHY!! Work shmerk! Tell your boss you're feeling sick (since you're a nurse, can't you say you caught something from one of the patients?!). Put your Contemporaires sweater on and get down to the parade! And by the way, how the heck are you guys finding your sweaters?! I never got one.

:)

What the heck is everyone wearing Saturday night? Is it getting cold in the QC yet? I finally dug out my Moline sweatshirt.......Hubby wanted me to wear his UT one...that would have went over well...

AH1 you whimps from CA and FL. Less you have forgotten, It's fall in the midwest, trees are turning colors, football on Friday nights and Saturday afternoon. It could be 30 or 70, sunny or raining. You are too spoiled and soft to appreciate seasons. Check the internet, pick up a cheap Maroon sweatshirt and quit rubbing it in that it's always warm where you come from - I get enough of that from my parents in Tampa, FL.

Life continues to get in the way so I'm gonna have to read about all the good times on this forum. Somebody please video the dancing and Dombeck's patented laugh. Make sure a still shot with names also gets posted. You can use Martel and Dombeck as benchmarks as they have not changed a bit. The rest of us have just aged with grace.

Good One-Cathy! My Contemporaire Sweater fits my 6th grade daughter and the Maroon is a funny color of brick! Anyone up for not going to the game I know some chicks ready to roll before the 9:45 bell. Our number's in the phone book-just call. Some of us regular parade go-ers will be watching you '83 parade walkers with pride from the sidelines and cheering you on!! Have a great time. See ya at the parade and Friday night.

By the way we will try to be in front of the Wagon Wheel for fun, laughter and sun!!!

10/09/08 09:15 AM #107

Cathy Clarke (Williams)

I live in Moline, I know, but where is the Wagon Wheel???

Also, for those of you who haven't been "home" in awhile...take note of the new and improved stretch of 23rd Avenue...now known as Avenue of the Cities. From about the Shell station to Why Pay More we have new brick side walks, fancy light poles and brand new streets. We are moving up in the world. It looks really nice!

See you guys tomorrow night. Take note: I do not run, do marathons, bike or wear a bikini---I still like to drink beer though!!!!

So I checked out the pic of the "Pinhead Bear" float-thanks Cathy and Gretta-and I still don't remember that thing! (I think I damaged a few brain cells somewhere along the way-must have been all those bad influences from High School-LOL!)

I don't think I can read this forum anymore...I'm starting to feel REALLY left out!!! Sure wish I could have made it back for this one-you all will have such a blast-I look forward to seeing lots of pictures!!

Deidre, I'm with you...I don't believe I ever had a Contemporaire sweater either!

OK, For all you Californians, Floridians, Texans (and anyone else coming from the warm sun and forgetting what it is like in Moline IL in October), HERE is the weather forcast (straight from Dexter Johnson from his handy-dandy weather radio):
Friday - Sunny; High 76 / Low 58
Saturday - Sunny; High 78 / Low 60
Sunday - Mixed Sun/Clouds - High 80 / Low 63

Dexter says "It's gonna be pretty good weather 'round here and all that, ya know? Low humidity and light winds from da South / South-East at about five ta ten miles per hour, don't cha know?!"

Now, if that is not PERFECT Midwest weather for this time of year, I don't know what is! Nice days, cool nights...only light jackets for the night. So quit whinning, and get you buns to the QCA!

Jenny B - can't BELIEVE you can't remember that miserable bear float....great body....BAD head! We all worked on that thing for hours (but of course Carius designed, and developed the bear head in a secret lab somewhere away from Kathy's parents barn up on the hill in the apple orchards....I believe it was the Alan Parson's Project....or something. Strange really....

PS DITTOS on the DD's. Don't Drink and Drive! The boys in the blue all know us too well and know it is "our weekend" so will be out and about. Grab a partner and watch yourselves and watch each others back. Oh, and they are nailing people for the mandatory seatbelt laws here now too....a money maker for them...just donated $55 to the E. Moline Police just last week, thank you very much. Happy Travels!

Cathy C - Are you SURE you graduated from MHS with us in '83?
You don't know where the WAGON WHEEL is?!

C'mon....think about it.... A.K.A. "Hafner's"....anyone....anyone...Bueller....

yeah.....NOW you remember...(I think some of us have been snagging drinks from up there since about 9th grade!).

Please, no more slandering of the bear. Let him rest in pin-headed peace.
Oh, my side!

Brian T - The Pin Head bear was built down by south park in one of the storage units. Some reason the barn wasn;t available that year. Now who's loosing brain cells?

If you will recall, as seniors, we were the first (and probably only) class to be beaten by an underclass float in the judging. Regardless, we had fun making them all. Kids around here do very little - they are truly missing out.

23rd Avenue will always be 23rd Avenue. This Avenue of the Stars thing is just too much me. "Crusing the Avenues of the Cities" just doesn't have the ring to it.

Have you all listened to the "Our Music" section? WoW! Talk about bringing back memories. The boys are ahving a blast downloading all the old songs onto the IPODs - costing me a small fortune. Reminds me of Ron Carlson at the Basketball games and the yelling "PANDA" and others yelling "MONIUM". Not sure why - just does.

^^^ Anyone know what Ron is up to these days?

Hi all,

As life goes we have had a change in plans and will not be able to make it for the reunion weekend. I hope you all have a great time and look forward to reading about it on the website.

PLH,

BAZ- We are so disappointed you won't be able to join us. You'll be missed. We'll take lots of pictures and will be sure to share.

Susan Schott (Viola)

Hey everyone...I hope you all have a great time at the reunion! It sounds like the stars are aligned for a fun weekend. You can't ask for better weather! And yes...I have to throw my 2 cents in about no drinking and driving. Remember, there's no do overs where that's concerned. My daughter participated in a great high school program called "Every 15 minutes" about the dangers and consequences of drunk driving. Be careful everyone... and have fun!

( Geez, I sound like a mom sending her kids out to their first dance! Sorry!)

Well guys...
I sure had fun seeing everyone last night! It was great seeing all those faces and trying to figure out who everyone was! PLEASE share photos if you took some. I am so bummed I didn't bring my camera. Have fun tonight too. I won't be there because of social events for my girls! :-) Plus I don't want to outdance any of you!
