In Memory

Roger Koenig

Roger Koenig

Roger Lee Koenig, age 75,  passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on August 7, 1949, in Mondovi, Wisconsin, Roger lived a life full of love, laughter, and deep connections.

He proudly served his country in Vietnam and carried that strength and resilience with him throughout his life. Roger was a devoted husband to Patty Koenig, the love of his life, with whom he shared 51 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and adventure.

Roger was a proud father to Nick Koenig and Emily Gilmore, and a beloved father-in-law to Emily’s husband, Shawn. He also warmly welcomed Nick’s girlfriend, Maryann Thompson, into the family. He adored his grandchildren—Lucy and Josephine Gilmore, and Lily and Aubrie Koenig—and took great joy in being a part of their lives.

A man of many passions, Roger loved hunting trips to Colorado, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, and he was always happiest with a fishing rod in hand. He enjoyed the thrill of NASCAR, the strategy of pickleball, and had an entertaining love-hate relationship with the Minnesota Vikings. Charismatic, caring, and always ready to lend a hand, Roger made friends wherever he went and was a steady source of support and humor for those who knew him.

Roger’s life will be honored with a service at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Monday, April 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM.

He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family and friends.

With deep sympathy to his family, I'm very sad to learn of Rogers passing. I have fond memories of running with him and others from east side during our pre-high school days. Lots of fun and adventure growing up with him and the gang in Mondovi.  He married his HS sweetheart and appears to have maintained his zest for life.   May his family treasure precious moments and carry his legacy forward.
