Norma Criss (Fudge)

Fudge, Norma R., 76n of Smithville, New Jersey, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday June 8, 2019. Norma was born on October 2, 1942 in Glen Ridge, NJ to John and Ariel Criss. She was raised in Montclair, NJ where she attended Glenfield Elementary School and graduated from Montclair High School. After graduation she received a scholarship from the Montclair Art Museum and attended and graduated from the Parson School of Design in NY. She also completed post-graduate courses at NYU and Rutgers University. She later met John Fudge, and in August 1969 they were married. She was blessed to raise his three children, Robin, Allen and Cassandra. Norma was a hard working two full-time jobs for 29 years. During the day she worked as a social worker, with aide to dependent children (welfare), and at night she was employed by the US Post Office. She was active as a member in various churches for 48 years, and for the past 5 years she was a faithful member of St. Paul AME of Pleasantville, NJ. As a talented artist, one of Norma's most recognized paintings is currently on display at Montclair University Art Collection. She also loved top collect videos, and expressed her abundant creativity through her stained glass designs. Norma was a joy to be around and was loved by anyone she met. She showed her love of children by being a role model. She demanded children be polite, tell the truth and walk the correct way. Her parents John and Ariel Criss and her daughter Robin predeceased Norma. She is survived b two children, Allen and Cassandra, grandchildren, great grandchildren, three siblings; Gwendolyn (Mern) Walker, John Criss, and Brenda Trent ; an aunt Rasheedah Umrani, her sister in law, Cheryl Criss; 5 nieces, Kimberly Criss Natasha Criss, Shannan Criss, Aaliyah Harris, and Ariel Harris; one great nephew Anthony Dodson, a host of relatives and many friends.
